I hope his press conference tomorrow puts some strong business and vulnerable people support in place. Although I have no idea what could be done at this point. It’s political unchartered territory.

Why can’t we just have all the info now? Or is this like a Netflix series with a cliffhanger at the end of every episode? What’s episode 3? More information about the pumps teaser?

Odd you didn't call SB out on the same.

I didn't call you out either. That's your victim complex talking. I made a humorous observation about TWTD in general.

We should be uniting to kick this government up the arse to sort it. Not just blindly uniting to resign ourselves to unneeded deaths.

Plenty of people agree thanks, you should go actually have a look at social media.

Oh people on social media agree? Oh let's listen to them then.

People on social media also think that the government created this, Boris wants the elderly to die and Man Utd have a better squad than Liverpool.

Everyone's trying as best they can in the main. Unbelievably even Johnson.

Just don't see how getting worked up on a forum is going to solve anything, it's only exacerbating an already bad situation.

I've just read this page only of the thread.

Maybe it helps some work out their frustration at the lack of control over their lives in this situation, or maybe getting worked up is a way of combatting depression? Dunno - my take would be that the time & energy expended would be more profitably spent on acquiring more fruit & veg to munch raw or cook, listening to music, sleeping, and/or other immune-system-boosting measures!

I've been in self-isolation since Wednesday, but feel free to go round spreading the virus for herd immunity. Or not herd immunity. I can't remember which as even today government advisors seem to be saying it again despite Hancock saying this weekend it was nothing to do with herd immunity.

I'll stick with the experts who seem to not be contradicting themselves and lying.

Please tell me where I said I was going to go around continuing to spread the virus? I’m following the governments advice, ironically so do you seem to be... I didn’t think they were doing it right?

I’m sticking with the experts too, the experts that are advising this country on what to do.

You are still harping on about the weekend, do move on to the important up to date stuff like our experts and government are doing!

I think it's also important to separate a government taking and acting on the advice of the medical and scientific advisers with a government implementing policies that will help businesses and ordinary working people cope with the financial meltdown that this outbreak will create.

So whilst I've been supportive of the former, I am yet to be convinced that they have a clear plan regarding the latter.

On the medical side, think it's important to just shut up if you know nothing. It's not helpful to add to the pile of mindless speculation that's already out there and causing potential harm.

The political/economic side is certainly up for debate and I don't think there's much doubt the government has been pretty poor here.

But you're right, separating the two is very important.

As I think Dan said earlier, how much is a life worth.

It's a horrible situation for the government.

What if we could limit the dead to 10,000 by shutting the country down but the other side of 5,000,000 are in poverty or financially ruined.

What if you allowed 15,000 to die and cut the figure of those ruined to 1,000,000. Do you save those 4,000,000 from being ruined to allow 5,000 more elderly to die?

What if figures suggested that having 5,000,000 people completely ruined financially would lead to 6,000 suicides? Do you let the extra 5,000 die then?

It's absolutely incomprehensible to work out the decisions being taken that not only affect life, but the NHS moving forward, mental health, financial hardship, crime you name it.

And worst of all is that even if they got every single decision right for the combined good of us all, we won't ever know and they will still be criticised and still feel like they should have done more.

This is what these utter morons don't realise.

Only one person needs to listen to their BS and they could directly or indirectly kill someone by passing on the virus. I'd have absolutely no problem with special measures being brought in to deal with people who peddle nonsense on social media likely to be harmful and people claiming to be selling cures and so on.

At what stage of everyone on this forum disagreeing with you on every subject, even posters like SB, who are extremely knowledgeable, rational and fair (and I've had run ins with him) do you start to think maybe your views on a lot of stuff are just way off?

I'd love to know what better system you propose for an unbelievable, unprecedented, worldwide disaster above following the advice of actual experts who know the most about what we are likely facing?

You honestly think that the Prime Minister, armed with information, facts and data from experts should ignore this and listen to people like you 'pushing back'?

I f***ing hate Boris Johnson, most politicians and the entirely corrupt system, but the job he is doing now is just unreal in its complexities and nobody in that position would ever get everything right and there is no training or preparation for this kind of thing. Despite hating the bloke, I can't see what more he can do right now than listen to experts and adapt in real time to any new advice and data modelling.

I have literally no idea how your brain actually works. Nor do I want to.

Quite how is going from 'people on social media who peddle BS are unhelpful' to 'there should be sanctions people on social media who peddle BS' is a bit of a subject change I don't know.

It's literally a thing that happens and the thing I think should be done to stop the thing.

As for 'sensible stuff other nations are doing' would you recommend Britain does what it's experts recommend is best for Britain or should we adopt whatever policies work best for f***ing Nepal?'.

And what if the science says the best thing right now is that 50% of the population isolates, because 100% isolation will lead to problems with mental health, resources and the virus carrying on for longer and 100% carrying as normal will lead to rates of infection that cripple the NHS.

Maybe 'stay home but we are not enforcing it' is because that 50% will be achieved and if they asked 50% of the population to stay at home, people like you would just ignore it.

Let's say the government were not being transparent. It's probably because of people like you analysing and criticising everything they do.

Look Callis, CoroV-19 is a completely new thing on this planet.

The only way, and the only time, we will actually know which country/countries managed it best, is in about 18 months' time when we've all been through it, have the experience & the statistics to look back on and analyse. We will then know what the best way is in future.

Till then it's all a matter of guesswork, theories, and juggling of them. Earlier up in this thread I praised SB. A bloke I had a big disagreement here with a few months back who I thought was being a massive tool.

On reflection, I didn't agree with everything he did but 80% of that dispute was me being a moron.

This is what people do. We reflect. We realise we are not always right. We listen to others. We take stuff on board. We learn. We evolve.
