#JohnsonMustGo trending on Twitter 02:17 - Mar 17 with 33550 views | monytowbray | I hope his press conference tomorrow puts some strong business and vulnerable people support in place. Although I have no idea what could be done at this point. It’s political unchartered territory. Why can’t we just have all the info now? Or is this like a Netflix series with a cliffhanger at the end of every episode? What’s episode 3? More information about the pumps teaser?

#JohnsonMustGo trending on Twitter on 11:17 - Mar 17 by portmanking | "Genuine question: would you feel safer being tested? To me it seems like a no brainer based on what other countries have done. And how would school closes affect your work?" You just said this only an hour ago. You do want everyone tested. It's not physically or fiscally possible. Have a day or two off. |
Sorry but if you're going to literally lie about what I've said then what is the point in having any level of discussion with you? Badger works in the NHS. He's not "everyone" [Post edited 17 Mar 2020 11:36]

Crossing our fingers and crunching data? We are facing a situation like nothing before. We have expectations, we live in a world that is connected like never before. The trouble with the world is communication, too much communication.

The data has been crunched though, it said "test, test, test." Not sure there's much to say against that statement beyond exactly what it is.

No worries. So on your point we aren't doing horribly on testing, SK and China have tested the most and SK also has the second highest tests per million people. We are 12th globally on that metric but 5th globally on the total tests performed. Data and charts here: SB

Anger with whom and for what? For the government to listening to the best available advice? To other members of the public for following the advice? To people trying to be calm when you feel they shouldn't be? What exactly are you raging against? The bat? A Chinese peasant? The price of a chomp bar these days?

If there is a criteria to meet for being tested I would hope that that information is given only to those who need it. You know people are selfish enough to be tested when they don’t need to be. Look at the state of the supermarkets. We need people to calm down a bit.

They’ve been listening to the best available advice on their payroll. Which is quite different. Why do you assume I am along in this anger? It’s everywhere. Getting fairly bored of some here pretending I’m some kind of lone wolf.

That’s also the government’s job, they’ve not done much to reassure anyone of anything really. They’ve tried but it’s just been contradicting and lacked full facts.

As I’m sitting in a dentist waiting room bored out of my skull, so I’ll bite. That’s twice you’ve mentioned that the CMO and CSA are on the government’s payroll. Are you suggesting they are not giving best advice and instead are giving the advice they believe their employers want to hear? Please clarify. [Post edited 17 Mar 2020 11:49]

Based on all the other advice and what other countries are doing, yes, yes I am. Their model was based on the wrong illness at the start. That’s some shift in data.

I think he's referring to assumptions having initially been made with reference to viral pneumonia. Prof Ferguson [head of the modelling programme at Imperial’s MRC centre for global infectious disease analysis] said: “We have had bad news from Italy and from early experience in UK hospitals that the intensive care requirements will be nearly twice what we had anticipated. "The latest evidence suggests that 30 per cent of patients admitted to hospital with Covid-19 will need critical care in an intensive care unit, he said. Previous estimates, based on experience with viral pneumonia, were too low." https://www.ft.com/content/249daf9a-67c3-11ea-800d-da70cff6e4d3

Thanks. Would it not seem reasonable that, considering that you can’t really trust the data from China, that the viral pneumonia model fitted better than anything else at the time. The situation in Italy worsened, valid and proven data was received, the model was shifted accordingly. I’m just trying to think of a fair and logical explanation. I do think a worst case scenario could have been foreseen, however, I also see the idea of trying to protect UK businesses by keeping them going, and not panicking and shutting the UK down based on scanty information. But as you said yourself, the pubs were rammed at the weekend. Even when people could see what was coming. People are going to be selfish do what they want.

No, you're posting stuff which suits your opinion and ignoring questions put to you that don't. You are also posting falsehoods on some occasions (childcare, "we can stop this now but aren't" spring immediately to mind). Nothing you have posted shows any evidence of lack of integrity and for such a frankly horrible accusation you need some proper evidence. It's bordering on libellous. I find your last sentence frankly insulting - you're not debating - you are throwing around unsubstantiated accusations and ignoring things that don't suit your narrative. From today only: - You didn't respond when I posted evidence that the UK is actually testing well compared to other countries as it didn't fit your "debate". - You didn't reply when asked twice what should happen if Boris actually went - You didn't properly respond to the childcare points on vetting or carers or multiple children with single carers still spreading the disease. This is actually getting on my nerves now so I'll leave you to "debate". SB [Post edited 17 Mar 2020 12:14]

Phil just posted the same link I did. You gonna call him out too? Probably not. I think you need to take your I'M DEALING WITH CALLIS RAH RAH RAH hat off for a second and actually listen read the things I post. There is nothing to argue this other than blind trust in the government, which they're not delivering much to suggest we can trust them. re: testing - The WHO says otherwise. Are you a bigger expert than them now? As this seems to be thrown around in this thread a lot in my direction. Are the rules different when it's someone who isn't me? re: Johnson - How should I know, I just shared it was trending on Twitter. This is you inventing a narrative on my behalf. re: childcare - I said I don't have the answer there but other countries seem to be sussing it out whilst we sit on our arse. I think we're at the point now where you're just here to argue and little else, as you've gone off in one of your 3 paragraph rants getting personal whilst hiding behind a level-headed front. Some of us have genuine concerns. I can't be bothered to go round in circles with someone who won't listen and somehow missed the last few days of stuff I've posted. Where is this stuff I've shared you claim that proves nothing? It's all from WHO and scientific experts FFS. It's not like I'm posting links to Infowars. [Post edited 17 Mar 2020 12:21]

I don’t see many here defending or agreeing with you yet I see people here who would normally be at each other’s throats or who wouldn’t they normally agree with each other showing a united front.....
