Anyone off to (Or in Spain?) on 00:19 - Jul 26 with 6467 views | 26_Paz | Rates of infection in Tenerife are lower than most areas of England. Should be targeted measures focussing on Catalunya and anywhere else it’s bad. Madness.

Anyone off to (Or in Spain?) on 19:20 - Jul 25 by 26_Paz | Paid £431 last week for a weekend in Tenerife in the middle of August. Not going if I’d have to quarantine , even if I can’t get the money back. FFS. Disaster for the Paz! |
I haven’t felt this sorry for someone since poor old Katie Hopkins had her Twitter whatnot revoked. I trust Tenerife will announce a weekend of mourning & a crowdfunding page to help you re-book?

I guess if you get conned into one of those timeshare things by a sleaze ball in an ill-fitting suit you want to get your money's worth!

Dunno why Paz wouldn't back dear old Blighty in her time of need by holidaying in Skegness rather than jetting off to the EU during a pandemic... [Post edited 26 Jul 2020 1:08]

Anyone off to (Or in Spain?) on 01:39 - Jul 26 with 6391 views | StNeotsBlue | A mate of mine has recently been dumped by his wife, to try take his mind of his troubles last week he booked a break to a posh spa type place in Spain. How's your luck! I'm hoping he stays away from sharp objects and busy roads for a while as he's obviously on a bad run of fortune.

"However, it is unclear whether the new quarantine rules will apply to government ministers, as a government website states that people “undertaking essential policing or essential government work outside of the UK” will not necessarily have to self-isolate." |
parliament is in summer recess though, so there are no votes he has to be in westminster for, and Im sure the country can cope if the transport secretary has to stay at home for two weeks,he can zoom call into any government meetings he has to.

As an alternative to quarantining, could holiday makers not be able to get a test? That way they can be sure they are safe and carry on working if clear?

If you think about it BA are doing the right thing as they will have passengers booked on the return flight. Cancelling flights leads to stranded Brits. Appreciate there are going to be stories about BA letting people fly to Spain when it wasn’t safe.

... also how does this impact folk when they return? Is it really the employers fault for example? Do they have to let folk Work From Home?

Yep, it’s not rocket science. You’d expect this outcome, unless you’re plain daft.

Agree. Should be able to pay for a test upon return. Quarantine until the result. If it’s negative you’re out, if it’s positive take your 2 weeks on the chin

I remember when holidays were being cancelled back in March, the general consensus was that foreign holidays would be a no no for a couple of years and that we would all be holidaying in our own counties in the foreseeable.

Anyone off to (Or in Spain?) on 09:48 - Jul 26 with 6187 views | Herbivore | I'm surprised just how many people have rushed off on foreign holidays so soon. I'm not going anywhere overseas until next year at the very earliest and even then it'll be a case of reassessing. It's a bit of a hardship but a relatively minor one in the grand scheme of things. We're still in the midst of a pandemic.

Not holiday as such, no. I'm moving to Scotland so am heading there for a few days next week to look at houses but that's essential travel really. If infection rates remain fairly stable or drop as the year goes on I might consider a weekend break somewhere in the UK but will see.

Many domestic holiday destinations have corona rates far higher than most areas of Spain so I’m assuming the answer to that is going to be no ...

This is exactly what the airports on Nord rhein are doing , upon arrival you are offered a free test if refused you go to a 14 day home quarrantine, after having the test you will quarintine until you have the result, this is for travellers returning from high risk areas but if you return from low risk area you can have a free test within 3 days
