This lockdown is going to be a struggle 15:56 - Nov 2 with 8669 viewsitfcjoe

Keep working, but no fun allowed.

At least kids can still go to nursery so there isn't the ridiculous split shifts for us to manage, or more realistically for my wife to as I'll be mostly out and about in the day with work.

Gym shut, pitch black and wet outside so exercise a struggle.

Nothing to look forward to, except watching Ipswich games on my own sitting in my office. On top of that I've got a dissertation to write.

Roll on 2021, when hopefully things will be a bit better

Being half way through something similar in Wales, I'm not finding it a big deal at all. I'd already changed behaviour this year, so am just finding it more of the same. I'm lucky I can work from home, but for those that can't I think you're still allowed to go into work in England aren't you?

Working from home means that the gyms being shut isn't an issue for me, as I can go for a walk/run/Joe Wicks during the day. I imagine that's harder if you're stuck in work though.

Just accept it, find another way to get some time out in the fresh air and not worry too much about it is my advice.

I'll miss the 5 a side football on a Wednesday night. At 33 I've been playing the best football I've ever played and in the most enjoyable team I've ever played in.

Workwise, not much will change for me or Madge as we both work in the educational sector.

A bonus, if you will, of lockdown was we saved loads of money which allowed us to knock a couple of years off our mortgage.

Socially it will suck though.

I spent £60 on a sh!t hot pair of goalkeeper gloves that arrived in March that haven't saved a single shot with them. Like you I was in great form, I haven't played 5 a side since early March and I really miss it.

60 quid!

I hope that make you a better keeper for that money!

I don't want to sound like a bighead but I had loads of people asking me to play for their Saturday/Sunday teams on the strength of what I did during 5 a side. If Covid hadn't hit I would been playing a better standard of football right now.

Let's hope you get to pick up where you left off then Mellors.

The saving grace may be that your competition will have been forced to take a break too.

Get some practice in where you can!

I've been able to play 7 a side since September - tomorrow night will be the last for a while though.

I really need to keep playing though as I'm definitely getting towards the end of my 'career'! I'm 45 in a couple of weeks and staying sharp enough to play with a group of lads mostly in their 20s becomes harder with each break, takes me 3 or 4 weeks to get back up to speed!

I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun. I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.

It's not nice but it's still fairly tame compared to what Australia have done to get rid of the virus and unfortunately it's required unless people want to just let the upward curve continue. The worst thing is I fear it won't even be long enough or strict enough which is the real worry.

I agree it's not going to be great though. I also suspect schools and nurseries might still shut but lets wait and see.

The thing is they put the work in and are now reaping the reward. I would be up for a Melbourne style lockdown if I knew at the end of it life would almost be back to normal.

Look at them in Australia now, all out and about in pubs, restaurants, parties, back to normal life. Summer season is just around the corner and it looks magnificent. No need for masks or anything in NSW now.

I would happily do it if I knew that would be the end result. Problem here is our borders, so even if domestically we got a grip of it through lockdown as soon as people started coming into the airports again we would be back to square one.

fck it, head down, crack on through it like the first one. exercise, where theres a will theres a way, nothing is impossible.

praying they keep the kids at school this time, as I could see it really affecting our oldest.

I think i'll still be from the office this time round, we have hand gels in here now so 100000000000% covid safe, they say.....

Wife finishes at 9pm Wednesday night, then off until whenever they allow hairdressers back, so whilst shes wondering what she'll do to pass the time I have already put together a plan, that includes her taking out a wall, wallpaper stripping and generally doing the stuff I normally do!

....I've just got a new puppy.

I've got 4 weeks of cleaning up sh*t and p*ss whilst trying to stop her chewing every item of furniture/clothing/footwear in the house.

She also is having the time of her life attacking my achilles/arm/nose at every opportunity.

I can't even take her out walking for another month.

"It's going to be much easier than the first one IMO."

I honestly couldn't disagree more! As someone who loves being outside, whether gardening or enjoying nature, having loads of free time over Spring/Summer was no hardship at all.

This is going to be crapola.

It doesn’t really bother me tbh, I just feel for my kids not being able to do much outside the house.

My boys 6th birthday in a couple of weeks. He’s gutted he can’t go to laser tag and the pancake house for breakfast. He said to me the other day, “if I was allowed to say a swear word, I’d say it about Boris Johnson.”

everyone seems to think their "thing" or "interest" could continue safely regardless. doesn't that defeat the object of a lockdown?

the amount of golfers saying they should be allowed to carry on..... gym goers claiming their mental health needs it.... just suck it up and crack on
