This may be controversial. But Lambert. Give him time 21:39 - Nov 3 with 4216 viewsFrimleyBlue

There is something slowly happening in the pitch. It's slightly painful to watch. But it is actually quite different. And when it works it looks really promising. Reminds me of Colchester side. It's not there yet but there is something bubbling

I'm not sure that 'we look like Colchester' is quite the recommendation you think it is.

Unfortunately what is not there yet is guile and Lambert does not seem to be able to react quickly enough to changing circumstances or deficiencies on the pitch. Would love it if I was wrong and his team definitely deserved to get something out of tonight.

There would definitely be no point getting rid now. We've had a few wobbles and will have more but anyone who thinks this is the muddled approach we saw last season is being disingenuous. It's much clearer and more consistent, and the football we are playing gives us more of a chance. If we hold our nerve we should only get better. All this said, we can't afford to start falling away so the pressure is real.

Will want to see more than one good away performance.

Let’s not forget only 3 days ago we got outplayed by an 18th placed Crewe Alex side on our own patch.

When it clicks, it certainly can look promising, does it ‘click’ consistently enough... not right now.

Need to see it more regularly before I back a long term project.

Sadly you're right. Evans will persevere with him until promotion is very unlikely and we'll have wasted another season in the third tier.

Oh no, certainly cannot get rid of manager whilst still sitting 2nd albeit tight at the top and others have games in hand.

But it is a different approach this year, but you’ve got to be able to play like tonight consistently.

Too many times this year we’ve lacked tempo, ideas, invention and purpose to our play, and spent wasted time moving the ball along the back line, and teams allow us to do so because they know we won’t hurt them there.

You’ve got to find that cutting edge to hurt teams, and that only comes playing our way by being quick and slick through the thirds. We had that tonight, but need to see it more than once every 6 games etc.

Sorry, the good ole days where you give a manager three years are long gone. Lambert has had time. Two years now and whilst he talked a good game while losing every week for his first six months and is maybe a really nice bloke, for me it’s clear he’s got no idea what he’s doing.

There is little ‘happening on the pitch’. A few players trying to make a career, some trying to make the best of playing out of position, others Just stealing a living coasting along at a club that aspires only to comfy mediocrity.

PL has had his time, but thanks to our owner’s staggering incompetence giving him that contract, he’ll have a few more years yet telling us how great he was.

Summed up quite well actually. I’m sure he is a nice bloke, but he has had a significant amount time here, and doesn’t matter what way he spins it, we haven’t progressed.

If it weren’t for the academy, and the promising academy grads that have come through, it would certainly have a very meh feel to the club.

The academy/academy grads add a bit of hope, light and promise to the future of the club for me.

We need consistency - we showed signs of promise but we need to do this against Portsmouth, Shrewsbury and Hull now. There will be off days, all teams have off days, but they need to be few and far between. If they're not then Lambert's days should be numbered.

The players need to bottle this injustice and use it to spur them on to get out of this shoddy sh!t show of a competition. ASAP.

Never seen a ref turn a match on its head quite like that tonight...

Livid. Sunderland were sh!te! No way they're automatic contenders based on that.

I like your optimism but when did we last win against anyone decent? Leeds last game 2 seasons ago when they had the deckchairs out? The win against Blackpool was good. Are Blackpool going to make the top 10? I doubt it. Are we really good enough individually and collectively to beat any of the better sides in this league? Doesn't look like it any more than last year and Lambert can blub about bad luck all he wants. We’ve had more than our fair share of good fortune this season including the Crewe game.

Fleetwood away last year, probably. We have signs of hope; tonight despite the annoyances is one of those, but we've never been able to seize and run with them - we just seem to regress back to the usual approach instead.

This may be uncontroversial but sack Paul Lambert and hire Paul Cook.

Two years of failure ... not good enough.

It's time to screw the Ipswich/ME way of waiting and waiting for our worst fears to be realised before getting a replacement who makes matters even worse.

Who really, instinctively, feels Lambert is still the man to lead us back to the Championship, keep us there and Gawd forbid challenge for promotion?

It's not going to happen. Most people know it. Act now. Then move on and up.

For all last night's performance is being talked up, how many proper chances did we actually create? We looked like not losing and possibly nicking a win, but it's not as though we were battering them. And this Sunderland side really isn't up to very much imo.
