The Tories bang on about divisiveness when it comes to upsetting racists, but they seem quite content to label anyone that supports anti-racism as a Marxist. Personally I'm quite happy to be labelled a Marxist, but I appreciate that to a lot of people it has negative connotations which is the aim of it being used to describe BLM supporters.
Essentially this boils down to what I've said repeatedly before. Why wouldn't we expect groups who are committed to anti-racism to have some political flavour? Ending racism isn't just about stopping people using the N word at a football match, it's about trying to address fundamental inequalities that exist within and are perpetuated by free market capitalism. You don't end racism by carrying on in exactly the same way. It you don't want anything at all to change about a society that perpetuates racism then you aren't anti-racist. Of course whether you want to go as far as abolishing capitalism is a different matter, but nothing changes without change and it seems that Tory MPs want to say they are against racism but aren't prepared to lift a finger to end it.
He always seems to spend more time defending racists than those who suffer racist abuse - and that’s before we even get into the antisemitism which would have got him kicked out of the Tory Party under any other leader.
Roll on 2024 when Hunt can go and get a job at Guido Fawkes and Ipswich can get an adult as MP again.

The current Tory party appear to have chosen to align themselves much more closely with the racists than those who are anti-racist. Politically they have to say they are against discrimination, but this is always couched in defending people's right to act like racists.

Indeed, you just have to look at the 2019 intake. It contains people like Hunt, Lee Anderson and Anthony Browne (who said that immigrants were responsible for bringing HIV to Britain.) Ben Bradley was 2017 intake but he seems to have been emboldened by the new direction the party is taking itself in.
Shame, Tom's getting a fair bit of stick for this.

ultimately, this is why asking for some basic human decency towards people who are not white, straight or well-off is seen as 'political'. It's because they've spent the past 4 years, in particular, cosying up to some pretty vile people.

It's a vote winner for them.
Unfortunately there are many people (a lot of them older but not ancient) who just don't get BLM as a protest. They will immediately cite the difficulties for poor white kids as an equivalence without understanding the other issues around institutional bias.
I don't really blame them, it's a lack of education on the subject, but it does align with the Tory view even when some of those people aren't Tory voters so that is a reason why we are where we are in the polls and the MP breakdown.

Because Sandy Martin was great
The whataboutery is strong in this one.

How on earth did this guy get in? He is utterly appalling, I really hope the people of Ipswich see sense and give this pr!ck the heave ho.
In recent times Sandy Martin seemed like a decent guy (as did Ben Gummer, I say that as a member of the Labour Party). It is so sad seeing this prat as Ipswich's MP, Sandy was bang on with this, the Conservative Party is turning into UKIP with few moderates left in it:

I don't recall him him being an openly racist thicko, if that helps.
Just checking my notes for when Sandy actually did anything for the people of Ipswich, rather than spout s**t all over Twitter just like the current incumbent, all MP's need stringing up IMO

Yes, another Tory outing himself as a racist.
But, kit has always been like this. In the early 80s I queued to sign the petition to free Nelson Mandela at South Africa House inCentral London. About 10 years later, a new role for me (I was a civil servant from 78 to 98) meant I needed a very high level of vetting to get involved in secret meetings on behalf of HMG (the group I attended didn't officially exist!). Anyway, I was tol MI5 had a file on me, as they did with everybody who signed the Mandela petition, so by wanting to end apartheid (the epitome of anti-racism) the Thatcher Government deemed us enemies of the state and of interest to MI5. Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.

Can you link me one example of Sandy Martin standing up for racists on Twitter or voting against providing food for deprived children?
Just one.

You could call a recall election in Ipswich if you really wanted him out. He's not my MP but he's at least active in Ipswich, my Tory MP is Nigerian but hilariously also anti-BLM! She lives in Wimbledon and spends no time up here with the peasants... Invisible to say the least. Classic wage claimer MP.

It's an interesting equivalence isn't it, suggesting that an MP who openly sides with racists is as 'bad' as one who didn't.
I actually think this is one of the most dangerous aspects of Trumpian and current UK politics. It almost feels like they are deliberately trying to erode trust in politics because it enables this kind of equivalence. If all trust in politics is eroded then what does it matter if you vote for the self interested racist? The socially conscious anti-racist is just as bad after all, none of them are to be trusted. This erosion of trust ultimately only benefits the unscrupulous manipulators and it is very worrying to see people not only parrot it but genuinely believe it.
So what are BLM's 'diverse range of aims and objectives', apart from combating racism and - for some of them - changing the way that police are funded in the USA (with the aim of reducing the number of race-related incidents involving law enforcement)?
