Brentford eying El Mizouni 12:52 - Jan 26 with 4085 views | itfcjoe | Brentford, with an incredible record of recruitment in recent years, pushing strongly for the PL are looking at Idris. Currently training with the U23s for us, as being punished for wanting to come back from Cambridge where he wasn't playing enough

Brentford eying El Mizouni on 13:42 - Jan 26 by Marshalls_Mullet | Brighton were after Dobra. Brentford for Idris. Palace for Downes. Norwich wanted Dozzell. ...and some people say we don't produce good youngsters anymore. [Post edited 26 Jan 2021 13:43]

Woolfenden was linked with Sheffield United. Jackson linked with teams with further up the pyramid. It is almost as if we actually have good players, who aren't been coached properly / guided correctly.

Brentford eying El Mizouni on 14:32 - Jan 26 with 955 views | Metal_Hacker | Just as a precautionary measure are we not 100% sure it's not his agent doing some stirring or we taking this as fact ? I'm not against the sentiment and I totally agree but....... Back from a loan spell after not getting playing time here , not getting time on loan and then comes back ...no playing time Just a theory

Brentford eying El Mizouni on 14:43 - Jan 26 with 923 views | JammyDodgerrr | Guy couldn't get in at Cambridge and came back here - unless you have info it seems harsh to say he's "punished" by playing in the U23s. He isn't anywhere near our team hence why he went out on loan. He's probably even further away now we've signed Harrop and Thomas. Needs to go out on loan again and prove himself.

Brentford eying El Mizouni on 12:58 - Jan 26 by Churchman | Brentford would be a massive step up for him. A real culture shock too, going to a progressive well run club. He’d be mad not to grab the opportunity if it comes to him. How depressing that we cannot compete with Brentford ffs. |
Yes, this - we could feasibly be in a position where if this interest is true we have a young player desperate to leave us to go to a bigger club in Brentford I still remember us going there in the cup in the Burley days where their defender on the post ducked out of the way to let Clapham score a free kick...absolutely miles between the clubs then and now that’s completely swung the other way These are the days

The whole 'couldn't get a game at Cambridge' narrative doesn't really tell the whole story. He had someone playing really well in his position so had to sit it out, it's the same across every league in every country and is the nature of a loan. Statistically he kept pace with the top performers at Cambridge per 90 minutes in terms of positive actions. That Brentford, one of if not the best recruiter of playing talent in the Championship, are looking at him is a better gauge of where his ability is at more than how much he played on loan.

Brentford eying El Mizouni on 13:45 - Jan 26 by hadleighboyblue | It's a crime that we are not encouraging these youngsters and bring them in to be part of the 1st team squad , they bring something different . Our 1st team are far too slow and predictable . Adding to this , we bring in fringe players from other clubs on loan , so add to the wages and get them up to speed and fitness for them to return to their parent clubs .......that can't make economic sense when we have our own young players already . |
The trouble is that we've got a crap manager and very poor coaching so it doesn't surprise me that other clubs may see more potential in our younger players.

Brentford eying El Mizouni on 13:06 - Jan 26 by homer_123 | Something isn't right here. Struggled to get game time this time around at Cambridge - not a sniff of first team football here and Brentford want him. I think we can safely say that they'll not see him as a first team footballer yet though. It's odd that he's not getting game time here tough, given Lambert has thrown in Gibbs for example and Dobra has been nothing if ordinary. Why El Miz isn't being given a chance is clearly down to Lambert. |
He was on loan and couldn’t be recalled when we were desperate and Gibbs played so the criticism is a bit harsh imo. To get game time here, he’s got to get ahead of Dozzell, Bishop, Downes and Nolan. I’d play him ahead of Huws though

Brentford eying El Mizouni on 13:05 - Jan 26 by unstableblue | It’s a disgrace this player won’t be on the bench tonight, and isn’t being developed as a player. One of my biggest fears is that we have one of the best crops of youth players I can remember - Wolf, Downes, Dozzell, Bishop, Lankester, Dobra, our Indonesian starlet - and it’s going to get broken and not exploited. Loanees? The line about Brentford’s scientific approach to recruitment was also telling... our club structure is akin to a pub side rather than a modern and progressive footballing outfit. I almost want us to lose tonight. |
This is why our next manager/management team needs to be more than just a coach. The entire rotten club needs shaking up from top to bottom and we need somebody with a long term plan to develop our youth team whilst getting the most out of a very well resourced team in league one.

Given injuries and suspensions, he ought to be making the bench. Particularly when we have two strikers on the bench with only one place potentially available on the pitch...
| Trust the process. Trust Phil. |

He could certainly get significant time off the bench here though. Just imagine a scenario where we dominate games in the third division and at 2 or 3 up can afford to bring out young lads on for a good half hour of experience and development at the end of a game, on a fairly regular basis. That would be nice. That would be progress. [Post edited 26 Jan 2021 18:07]

El Mizouni is far more ready for first team football than Dobra is in my opinion, he also takes a good corner (took the corner against Peterborough last season that Chambers headed in) and free kick, something which we can badly do with.
