I think you could be right (although maybe exaggerating a little).

9 years ago today on 08:52 - Jan 31 with 4124 views | Herbivore | That was peak JET that night. He was unplayable. Scored two, hit the woodwork as well I think? Set up the opener for Chopra as well. I'm struggling to think of many other players with such obvious ability who just haven't been able to master playing professional football properly.

Can't remember that although Allardyce put their defeat down to the transfer window closing that night.

Under Jewell... not many goals, but was such a good performance against the leagues form team. It was an even game, but I just thought we passed the ball so well created numerous chances and were full of energy Can’t believe it was 2011 Bowyer scoring against his old club. We saw glimpses of decent football under Jewell, probably the best of Marcus’s managers. But as you say overall he was hopeless. Interesting to look back on the team: 13 Stockdale 03 Cresswell 25 Collins 31 Sonko 06 Leadbitter 07 Edwards 08 Bowyer yellow card 15 Andrews 21 Bullard 10 Chopra (Delaney 90) 14 Scotland (Ellington 85)

9 years ago today on 11:43 - Jan 31 with 3840 views | blaggers | It's odd - my mum died that night; I'd watched the game, and remember that everything went in our favour - great performance, a bit of luck, and then got home to a load of missed calls and dreadful news, so that scoreline is forever etched on my memory.

I still think he could have worked. In my mind he's a bit of a poor man's Adel Taarabt in that as long as you surround him with decent, disciplined players who'll do the running for him, you can get away with letting him do his own thing and create the odd bit of magic.

9 years ago today on 12:55 - Jan 31 with 3763 views | SE1blue | I remember this match very well as I had won £8 of free bets at a bookies in Borough Market on a scratchcard promotion. I had put all of it on 4-1 @ 125/1 and never dreamed of it coming close to happening. When we went 4-1 up there was still plenty of time to go. Again, I assumed somebody would score and ruin it. Entering injury time I finally convinced myself I’d won the bet and then... Never been so disappointed with a 5-1 win.

I remember the win at Southampton when Alan Lee scored his first two Town goals for similar reasons, was a couple of days after my mum had died.

West Ham foolishly allowed Jimmy Bullard to drop deep, get the ball from our centre backs & run the game.
