That is the exact argument for opening up foreign holidays being made by holiday companies and airlines. So, yes they are.

More good news on the stats today..... on 17:45 - Feb 10 by footers | Surely you have to weigh up that want with the situations in each country by merit? If we all get jabbed before the European countries do in the summer, why is it fair that we may be spreading the virus while immune ourselves over there? I don't want to suggest people don't travel at all, and there's not really much to stop them anyway, but isn't excessive travel one of the lessons learnt in controlling the illness? Surely a little restraint while everyone catches up is only fair. |
Which is a fair bit different from labeling people as selfish for wishing to take a foreign holiday.

I explained what I meant by "selfish" in this context. Maybe a bad choice of word, but when your team has spent the last 12 months dealing with the impacts of people not thinking of others (in a lot of cases) it tends to make your patience rather short :)

Come on Grizzly - travel companies are always going to want to pursue what makes them the most money - that's capitalism innit!

I know you have to deal with muppets on a regular basis. When this cr*p is over you should write a blog and share a few of the more extreme ones :-)

More good news on the stats today..... on 16:27 - Feb 10 by ElderGrizzly | Yet, you've got Shapps today saying don't book any holidays in the UK or overseas until at least the autumn and quarantine hotels will stay until September. |
Why would you go on holiday abroad at the moment or the rest of this year? My neighbours went 3 times at the end of the last lockdown, as far as I am concerned they were extremely selfish and lets be honest the British isles has some wonderful places to visit. A lot of these selfish people only want to go somewhere sunny and get sozzeled, you can do that in your back garden. These people need to get real and make a sacrifice and stay at home. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

More good news on the stats today..... on 17:41 - Feb 10 by footers | It really is. Travel is extremely expensive as well. When it costs ten times the amount to get from London to Edinburgh than it does to Spain, makes it difficult to persuade us to holiday here! But as a man of the world, a week in Corby doesn't sound too bad. |
Any narco-tourists will be very well catered for in Corby.

Probably a bit early for the rippers, unfortunately. Should be looking at getting some hospitality open earlier though.

No point in that. I get the reason behind it, obviously booze = rule breaking. Just thinking out loud could look at cafes and stuff before licenced premises? [Post edited 10 Feb 2021 20:08]

I don't really get the alcohol thing. People could just get drunk at home and then go out. Maybe there is info I don't have access to showing it's a good policy but seems a bit daft. Why not let people in pubs for 2 drinks or one hour whichever is up first? I realise some might see it as an ideal opportunity for a pub crawl which would create problems but in other areas it would be a lifeline. There's not a lot of logic in now allowing a village pub to serve alcohol in my opinion. It's a shame people abuse these things and ruin it for everyone.

Unfortunately I do get the alcohol thing as it was as plain as day last time that after a drink people became either too cuddly or too aggressive.

Was thinking about this the other day. I often have soft drinks these days and get funny looks from some. Be interesting to see if people still visit the pub when alcohol isnt on the menu. Lots of sensible reasons for limiting alcohol sales for a short time, people get the benefits of social interactions hopefully without too much social interactions. No doubt some will bring in a hip flask but all these measures are never 100% perfect

More good news on the stats today..... on 17:11 - Feb 10 by bluelagos | I have family in Aus I'd love to see Xmas... Ashes is a pure coincidence ;-) |
I hate to p1ss on your bonfire BL but I reckon no chance. Numbers and flights are very restricted here and there are still thousands of Aussies who can't get home. Continual sad stories of families getting bumped off flights and losing their money. The Government also want to get foreign students back in for the boost to the economy so I guess they'd be next. Tourists I think will be last on the list. We are not even allowed to leave the country without special dispensation. I think the rule only applies to Australia, NZ and North Korea! Seems to be quite easy though if you're a Sportsman or Celebrity. There has been a lot of controversy over players being let in for the tennis while families are still stranded. So maybe get working on your cricket skills .... https://www.executivetraveller.com/news/from-today-australia-has-slashed-its-lim [Post edited 11 Feb 2021 3:52]
