Rich from Blue Monday podcast has interviewed him and pod will drop in the usual places and YouTube at 6pm.....really interesting, and JW seems adamant that there is something in this talk of takeover or something along those lines.....well worth a listen

Jim White from the Telegraph... on 19:27 - Feb 22 by PhilTWTD | I'd question why the Telegraph haven't run a story if he has enough info on the rumoured takeover. I'm still sceptical. Still not found anyone with a Town connection that seems to know about it. I also certainly don't think PL's future is dependent on a takeover. I'm still where I was the other day, whatever his mood on Saturday, it's not going to be long before there's a change now. Interesting to see how others view us, what the wider perception of the state of the club in context of other situations. He makes a good point about it being atypical, not someone syphoning out cash in the Bolton manner. On that aspect of it, I think it's notable that money was still being injected in January, so despite ME's general parsimony over recent seasons, the taps haven't been turned off, which you would imagine they would be if his businesses were in crisis or anything like that. Thought the bit about the academy and judging it on England call-ups was a little harsh in an era in which players get poached at 15,16. In other eras we'd still have Ben Knight, of course, and there might be others that we'd have recruited in previous eras that went to cat one clubs. Agree with Rich that Steve McGavin was a loss on that front, is at Villa now incidentally, moved on from Norwich. But it is true that while we've had lots of players that become regulars in the first team or the squad, the last big sale was Wickham and before that Darren Bent. |
I find it interesting how people are desperate for the takeover to happen, yet have no idea of the credibility of potential new owners. I'd like a change of ownership, but don't one any old chancer / group of chancers to buy the club! I'd rather a change of manager first.

Jim White from the Telegraph... on 19:35 - Feb 22 with 3230 views | Steve_M | A couple of telling points: - the difference between an engaged and motivated PL and the one we have now; - normally when a club is failing this badly there’s some financial dodginess in the background, that there isn’t points back to ME’s half-arsed approach and reluctance to make decisions whilst not delegating these to anyone.

Jim White from the Telegraph... on 19:33 - Feb 22 by Coastalblue | I have a friend that works for an arm of ME, and from what he's said to me they are anything but in crisis. I'd actually asked him about his job security knowing who he worked for and he seemed to feel that overall the ME group had actually done well out of what has happened over the last year. No big ticket events to sell, sure, but they were ahead of the curve with a lot of online conferences and training and had the capital to be able to solidify that position, at least that was the impression he left me with. I atually thought the pandemic would be disastrous for us due to ME struggling, actually I don't think that's the case at all. |
Interesting to hear that. Presumably lots of conferences to be sold on how to deal with pandemic issues in particular industries.

True, and if there is something in the US consortium rumour as outlined it doesn't sound particularly appealing.

Jim White from the Telegraph... on 19:30 - Feb 22 by TieDyedIn95 | He's self made on events conferencing and tickets. Not football. He's lost over 100mill on a football club. I wouldn't say he's good at running a football club any if you think that, I think you are the one being silly. The idea that Evans is suddenly going to get 40million quid from someone associated with some failed Bristol CEO for a failed 3rd division club that doesn't even own the stadium is absolutely laughable and anyone who believe that is happening is mad. Evans hasn't sacked Lambert because he's selling up, he hasn't sacked him because he's a rubbish owner of this football club and will continue to be until he is gone, or we are gone, whichever happens first. |
Club does own the stadium, just not the land it's on.

Exactly my worry. Let’s just say the Bristol city fans don’t have much good stuff to say about mark Aston who is rumoured to take over as CEO if the deal is true

"I wouldn't say he's good at running a football club any if you think that, I think you are the one being silly." What on earth are you talking about? No one, including me, has said he's a good owner. You've just made that up. You posted "The truth is Evans is just rubbish. There's no logic to it, because there is no logic to him!" Unless you are a small child that wording is just embarrassing. We know he's been a crap owner and it doesn't take you or anyone else to post that years down the line like it's news. Nuance and concept clearly isn't your bag. Edit: and has been pointed out to you, how can you not know ITFC own their stadium? [Post edited 22 Feb 2021 19:54]

Jim White from the Telegraph... on 19:55 - Feb 22 with 3055 views | Westcountryblue | Takeover is 100% in progress. I work with someone who is a former Championship coach and has a football scouting/analytics business. Via my contact I was told last Tuesday that the deal is making significant progress and likely to be announced next month.

In general, I think a move to online events has opened them to more people at a lower cost per head but lower overheads without needing venues or catering. I would presume MEG can benefit from some of that.

Part of the joy of going to an all day conference was piling in coffee and Danish pastries all day. I'm not sure I like the future.

Other than Mick, each manager we’ve had has been worse than the last. I can’t see us being any luckier with owners.

Football is a small industry. Ironically, my source isn't even an Ipswich fan, more so someone with a nostalgic respect for the club for our past achievements. I live in the South West, so I'm fairly sure it's come from Ashton's side of things.

Fair enough. If/when it comes to fruition let's hope it's in the club's interest and someone who understands what level of respect would be hoped for and what would be expected. A bit more info wise would be welcome of course. Pad it out a bit at least.

Indeed, the roll call of American owners hadn't been a great success story, Randy Lerner, Glazers, Kroenke, Hicks and Gillette, if you ask the fans of all those connected, the response would be lukewarm at best. I think the only one that has been remotely competent has been Fenway group.
