Line Of Duty Season 6-Spoilers 22:11 - Mar 21 with 30605 viewsTRUE_BLUE123

I know there are a few watchers on here..

Interesting episode, a few references to earlier seasons and I was convinced they were saying Jizz for most of that episode.

That Brummie cop is dodgy.

Can’t be her, I noticed on her personal file ( briefly shown ) that she is not a firearms trained officer so she’d have to explain to Carmichael ( who least we forget is on route with Steve and Ted ) how she has a gun and where did she get it from and Carmichael would then have her banged up before you can say sucking diesel!

Ryan will be dead, Davidson will stitch up Fleming - creating a narrative that Fleming tried to kill Pilkington in the lake. I would bet my last rolo on it.

Supposedly there is to be 1 more season after this - if Ted does retire, and Arnott is struck off for his painkiller addiction/dependency - I would imagine Carmichael will possibly head the AC unit as the final season ties up all the threads without much new stuff happening.

Possibly Hastings will be on the run, but I hope not. As far as shock twists go, that would be an annoying one - not a clever one.

I think I remember reading Arnott's actor can't go beyond this season anyway, he currently lives in Las Vegas - which possibly explains the drug angle.

Davidson is a decent enoug character though, so don't discount the chances that her story could span 2 seasons, much like Lindsay Denton's story.

It's too late for Davidson to accuse Kate of trying to kill Ryan at the lake. Why didn't she say so earlier? Why didn't Ryan say anything?

Also, Kate sent the address to Steve. Steve turns up with support. Why was Ryan there? Why would Kate send for witnesses if she wanted to kill him? (or kill Davidson?)"

They have to get the Chief Constable this series in order to save AC12. It would be hugely unsatisfactory for the story to wrap with Hastings, Steve and Kate all out of the picture. But Mercurio could maybe get away with killing or dumping one of them.

Also Compston being US based doesn't rule him out. Jimmy Nesbitt was in Spain, but has disappeared. Where has he gone? Manhunt across the Nevada desert, anyone?

If Nesbitt's character just happens to have an American Mum then he could have US citizenship, and then the procedural element could be about the difficulty of persuading the US to extradite, obliquely referencing the injustices regarding the death of Harry Dunn, in much the same way that Mercurio has referenced eg Stephen Lawrence or Jill Dando in this series.

Nesbitt, Steve, lawyers, a big table in an office. Jimmy walks away, smirking:
"Sorry I can't be of more help."

I'm writing it for him, aren't I?

This is Jed we're talking about here... Jed Logic transcends real logic when it comes to LoD

I love seeing Jimmy Nesbit in dramas. You can always count on JM to roll him out at some point.

Maybe Jimmy has a lead that his missing son is in Las Vegas, and wanders around drawing the little stick man on casino windows using his armpit sweat, or something?

In my mind TV and Films are a parallel universe in which all series co-exist.

I still can't get my head round why Wolverine didn't just slash Maximus the Gladiator's face open in Les Miserables.

Must have missed the Jill Dando reference, unless you meant Pilkington putting a gun to Davidson's head outside her own front door?

Clever referencing of Operation Yewtree via Operation Pear(shaped?!)tree too.

That's a great spot...I still think that might be where we're headed though, she seemed to be getting pretty desperate about the risk to Kate in that scene, it might not take a lot of training from the distance she was standing...

Also, whilst it's by no means beyond Jed to troll us with additional trailer footage, what the hell is going on in this clip?! (Excuse the source...)

There are quite a few parallels with Jill Dando's murder, too:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jill_Dando

High profile MIT investigation, under pressure after a year without a breakthrough.
Police disregarded some forensic evidence that would have narrowed things earlier.
Local bloke who struggled with expressing himself under duress identified as the prime suspect.
Dando had researched the Savile Paedophile ring.
Pistol fired in a "hard contact execution".
Workshop converted decommissioned gun and special ammunition used.

Ah right, thanks, esp for the info on Dando having researched the Savile paedophile ring, I'd been unaware of that.

Thanks Hatch also 👍

...reminded me of the precursor to it, Between The Lines.

I watched it when it was first broadcast and notice that it's being rerun and probably on iplayer too.

It was very good.

Thanks, just started watching that. Might be an unpopular opinion, but the acting is far better in Between the Lines than in Line of Duty, although as a spectacle LoD is decent.

Carmichael is bent IMO. She seemed to keen to pull surveillance off Davidson even when she became aware that Kate could be in danger.

She is also the most smug and annoying person in the show. Deliberately so and well acted.

I thought it was now established that the PCC isn't bent as he was opposed to the decimation of AC12 & had urged Hastings, after calling him to his office for a private meeting, to keep fighting to uncover the corruption?

It's "Definately" and that was a feature in the last series - and I noticed it happened again when the bird from Trainspotting was receiving a message.

Ted was using the same spelling last series when he was posing as the baddie and when it was brought up he said that hew knew that the baddie spelt it wrong and was copying it.

Similarly, Anna Maxwell Martin has made good progress from being in charge of the hostage incident in 'Alan Partridge Alpha Papa' to heading up an Anti-Corruption unit in 'Line of Duty', she must be a shoo-in to replace Cressida Dick as Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police.

I've only just caught up with series six - my tip for the next episode is that I reckon that Arnott will be having another sexless sleepover with Steph and wake to hear an unfamiliar voice, tiptoeing onto the landing he looks downstairs and hears Steph whispering into the phone in a Derry accent...

Poll: How will we get fourteen points from the last five games ?
