Recycling an old post, but Mick did love a 29-year-old spare Championship midfielder in the January window didn't he?!

2015: Chaplow
2016: Feeney
2017: Diagouraga
2018: Gleeson

Any I missed?!

2014: Green to add to this list of trash.

Tempted to say Luke Varney - not for the fact that he did badly (he was pretty useful), but just for how many times we seemed to keep going back for him having failed to find anyone better.

Nah, he scored that winning goal at Charlton so made one of the best days out of Evans’ tenure.

That's harsh I think, the only players who have matched his 11/12 tally since were Mcgoldrick in 13/14, Murphy in 14/15 and Waghorn in 17/18, who were all really good players for us. For just that one season he was a decent enough player for us even if he was overpaid. He was a lot better than someone like Paul Taylor or Tamas Priskin, or even Freddie Sears to be honest. He dropped off a lot the following season but still only scored two fewer than Daryl Murphy.

Doesn't matter though because the correct answer to this thread is obviously Donacien.

Ah Junior Garv! Sorry I missed this reply earlier

He was certainly a better signing than Taylor but then I’m not sure only being the 3rd or 4th worst expensive waster signed rather than 1st or 2nd is really much to write home about

As for Sears their scoring rates aren’t actually that different despite Sears spending a lot of his time here playing wide in a 3 or even in a midfield 4 at times whereas Chopra was always considered the main striker whilst on the pitch. So no he certainly hasn’t been better than Sears, who for a while was actually quite useful

Murphy meanwhile spent most of 2012/13 playing on the left

Chopra was cr*p, without a doubt a top 10 banter era player

Only missed him out because he wasn't 29 when he joined! But yeah, he's otherwise to be added to a fairly uninspiring old heap along with Richardson, Pringle, Foley and Carayol...

Well reminded. You are right! Brother of Stephen. Could have sworn it was Varney - the memory is not what used to be. I will consign Varney to the too old waste of a shirt bin.

Colin Healy. Apart from the Arsenal assist, what else was he?
Tamás Priskin. same as above.
Jonathan Douglas - Who possessed the man in charge to play him constantly?
Luke Chambers - He's basically been a leader of a team in freefall, I don't have anything against him as a leader or a person but I don't rate him.
Jonathan Walters (Relegation season) - A big pile of hype just for nothing, ended up getting injured and retiring anyway.
Jay Emmanuel-Thomas - Never saw much in him, he played brilliantly in the ITFC 5-1 West Ham game, but I can't remember him being stand out.
Jason Scotland - As a striker, he never scored many.

Jay Tabb - Almost forgot about this man, looked smaller than me, what was his actual purpose at the time? He was unbelievably awful.

Even then, 4 goals in 82 as a midfielder is awful even for CDM standards - I think he was a normal CM?
For the fact he started 40 times in the league, scoring 2 is still disgraceful.

Jonathan Douglas may have had one of the single worst midfield games I've witnessed against Newcastle when we lost 3 - 0. There was a video circulating where he looked like a competition winner

In which case, the most Banter Era player is Kayden Jackson, we literally paid £1.6 million for a bloke who won a competition to be a footballer.

Given that he played mostly on the left of a very flat 442 I’m thinking you haven’t a clue what you’re on about. Which would explain most of your initial list tbf

No idea what that means yet still made more sense than claiming Chopra was a lot better for us than Freddie Sears has been, despite the latter being largely useless for 2+ years now

That was McCarthy sorting his Irish mates out by taking their really really really bad at football kids over to our club.

Be Careful What You Wish For.

Bizarre , under MM we signed Mcgoldrick, Mings, Webster, Waghorn for a combined total of under 300k . Yet you are slating him about a couple of punts from Ireland. Give over.

The only Muff in Town.

Garv loves a Town failure, be it Lambert, Jewell, Chopra, Taylor or Martin.

In fairness, he also really likes Andy Drury - who was (is) a brilliant box-to-box midfielder.

He scored those 4 goals in 33 appearances, 18 in 78 in total across his 2 years here, having been signed for c£1-1.5m and on no doubt very expensive wages. Having been bombed out of here (with a year left on his contract so quite possibly with us having to pay some of that up too) he scored a whole 3 further league goals at such illustrious levels of the Scottish Championship and ISL

He was a f**king disaster, Garv

For what we paid for him, and his general big man schtick - it was total banter. He robbed us.

The fact that 90% of this entire thread are his signings is lost on you.

He signed well over 100 players in less than 6 years. The good to bad ratio is a joke.

Leon Best. Worst performance in an Ipswich shirt I ever saw. McCarthy then quoted as saying he won't play for me again after the match.
Lee Bowyer second, deary me.
