Jimmy Walker gone... on 10:45 - Apr 15 by PhilTWTD | May well be, I've heard at the very least he's in with a shout of a role. |
Is there any chance Dyer gets a new role? Seems to be highly thought of by Cook, having him in his dugout for all of our games so far and in the training videos, they seem to be working together.

Fair enough. We'll see. I am sure Cook will be on the phone and bigging us up. McGreal wouldn't he a bad Plan B though. [Post edited 15 Apr 2021 11:20]

Jimmy Walker gone... on 11:22 - Apr 15 with 2009 views | SuperCoops | Would now be a good opportunity to get Richard Wright a role at his old town club? Plenty of keeping experience, been coaching at Man City etc and he's got plenty of years ahead of him? I am guessing wages might be a stumbling block though... EDIT: And the fact we're just released his son, so maybe a bad idea. [Post edited 15 Apr 2021 11:47]

Wouldn't surprise me if he did. But I don't think PC has made any decisions yet.

Jimmy Walker gone... on 11:08 - Apr 15 by fabian_illness | I remember that. A guy called Malcolm Brown was the link, he was a really lovely chap, not seen him for years. I used to help MW and Ben at Cambridge on a Saturday morning. |
Ben was a quality keeper, I was surpised he never made it as a pro. Yeah Macolm used to organise it,, his son Shane used to train with us, I saw Malcolm again a year or two ago working as a building inspector when he came to my house. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Jimmy Walker gone... on 10:45 - Apr 15 by chrismakin | No one can say if he is or isn't yet as he's never managed long term without Leam But we've not had a great history with managers who didn't have their 'normal' assistants with them |
He worked without him at Sligo Rovers where he cut his management teeth.

Jimmy Walker gone... on 11:05 - Apr 15 by chrismakin | But it's not about enjoyment, he could go watch west ham outside of his work hours etc Social media is a powerful tool, it's a positive and a negative The fact people associate Walker with talking about west ham more than his work at Town only shows how he's used it incorrectly |
I'm sorry but that is nonsense and you know it. I don't want people associating my twitter account with my work at my employer - it is there for my personal interests. People seem to think footballers are this special breed where they should tweet or be involved in nothing other than their club career - which is totally wrong. He should be able to tweet about how well his home club are doing, it has zero effect on his position at Town. It would be totally different if he was doing it from the official town account - see Dulux this morning. [Post edited 15 Apr 2021 12:43]

The normal world isn't the same as football, it's not under the same microscope It's very clear based on the replies " he can concentrate on west ham now" . It's the same with Norwood with his tweets about tranmere. When there are questions about people's respect/love/passion for the club and it's own players and staff are more interested in other clubs, it will raise questions that's football im afraid

There's nothing intrinsically wrong with it, it's just a little 'tin-pot' isn't it? The big, proper coaches/managers don't constantly harp on about their favourite clubs - just those lower league players who know they will never get there.

Jimmy Walker gone... on 13:02 - Apr 15 with 1697 views | Chrisd | Could Carl Pentney step up from the Academy coaching staff in the meantime? He’s a very decent young goalkeeping coach. Walker seemed a likeable and jovial type of character, but ultimately he is there to do a job. Not really convinced much has improved in Holy’s game through Walker’s guidance. Jimmy Walker gone... on 10:20 - Apr 15 by Garv | Gill seems a bit different though, in that he actually comes across quite well and a level headed guy. Taylor just seemed to echo anything Lambert said, and Walker just seemed to say odd things on Twitter. We all know about Norwood on there but you kind of expect coaching staff to be above that, don't you? |
But in his press conferences he says the same old stuff even after terrible performances and has been part of a terrible coaching set up.

Pentney is stepping up temporarily. Said on the website. Town boss Paul Cook spoke with Jimmy this morning and Blues will now look to recruit a new goalkeeping coach, with Academy ‘keeper coach Carl Pentney stepping up to the role for the interim period. [Post edited 15 Apr 2021 13:13]

Jimmy Walker gone... on 11:00 - Apr 15 by chrismakin | Burley was an excellent manager, however when we sadly lost Roberts, Burley had lost his right arm. It happens alot with managers... Lambert/Culverhouse. etc |
Burley did well with Houston, Gorman and Hamilton as Asst Manager, so those saying he could only work with Roberts are wide of the mark. It was Hamilton who introduced the Holland and Dyer midfield partnership.

Roberts was Burleys assistant from 1995 onwards he was a massive part of his team. Integral.

It's difficult for assistant managers/first-team coaches to say too much post-match so you do tend to end up with a lot of bluster and cliche.

By that logic, you presumably think Tyrone Mings shouldn't have tweeted positively about the takeover last week.

He was a big part but George did like to freshen up his staff. I've spoken to players from that squad who felt that it was a big positive, stopped things becoming stale in training.

Its not about what I personally think it's about what a large majority feel... and I'm not sure what the response was to his tweet about our takeover. Is 90% of his tweets about us? I dont follow him so wouldnt know.

And freshening up was good. Doesnt change the positive influence he had and one which was sadly lost. I appreciate roles etc and responsibilities changed etc but he was Burleys best friend and assistant and the reason I mentioned him in this thread is the PC Leam relationship had grown similar. You’re right, Ben was decent. That’s it, Shane was his lad. Blimey he must be well in his 30’s now. Did you train with Aaron or Scott? Did you ever get to go on the pre-season at Alsager? That was a tough week.
