Only 31 - please make it happen!

And while we're at it, Keiren Westwood could finally seal his imminent move...

I agree, he was here for all of 5 minutes, during which we were crap and he was decent. Why would he want to come back, with us a division lower?

I'd love it to happen, but surely he'll have more attractive offers.

I think the only link really is the fact that he and his wife loved the area and the children were very settled.

But as others have said, If Coventry offer double us and the chance to stay in the Championship, then no matter how nice Woodbridge is, Coventry trumps it (As mad as that sounds)

£20k isn't top end, sadly.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's on that sort of money next season, and good luck to him, he won't earn it forever. Very good player.

I meant a top end club. I'd see his level as more a Preston, Coventry, Luton. Pretty much where he was before he signed for us. The bottom half of the clubs in the Championship aren't paying £20k a week willy nilly to everyone - maybe 1/2 of their best players. But I don't think he commands that anymore. He's come off the back of a pretty poor season and is the wrong side of 30. I may be wrong.

New owners will invest but we are still limited in wage limits due to the structure of wages vs income in league 1. I'd imagine our glass ceiling for wages will be around the £8k p/w mark, there's no way we'll be coughing up £15k upwards for players at this level.

Nor should we

Promotion clauses, as such bonus payments don't count towards any salary ceiling.

We won't get him but I think he would be more effective as the right sided attacker and cutting in - he was great doing that.

No argument. That's completely different to him coming back because he has unfinished business though isn't it?

Christ no!

A few years back he was decent, but has really struggled at Derby.

Much better available for the money (and much younger).

RIP Sir Bobby

What’s Waghorn like playing as a lone striker, he was always in a 442 before wasn’t he?

Even if we could afford him, I can’t see him playing as a lone striker in a 4-2-3-1.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

Could be the inside forward on the right.
Cut inside. Whip in top left hand corner. And repeat

This unfinished business thing is just odd. He's someone with no link to the club who is probably more loyal to MM than he is us. We signed him, he repaid us on the pitch and he took the better offer when it came. No issue with him at all but this idea he needs to come back is nonsense. He moved on. He will now take the best package on offer to him and rightfully so.

Agreed. Waghorn looked a really good player in his one season with us. But he’s 3 seasons on and 31 years old. Hes not exactly ripped it up at Derby either. He’s had by and large a journeyman career and for what he’d cost in wages, I’d look elsewhere.

If Peterborough can find players like Clarke-Harris and Toney with something to prove, why can’t we? Time to get away from lazy signings and build a proper, top level scouting network and invest further in the yoofs to raise the quality there.
