If town get promoted top of the league it will be everyone s favourite kit for evermore just like the 99/00 kits were

New Home Kit Released on 12:30 - Jun 3 by ITFC_Jenx | If they'd made the pin stripes down the front white it would have been more interesting. Yep, it's average but it was probably signed off before the takeover. It also doesn't feature a horrible Magical Vegas logo. 22/23 season should be more interesting kit wise. Notice that Brett Johnson has been interacting with concept kit designs on Twitter. |
Correct me if I'm wrong, but the club rarely have *that* much input, do they? As in, they couldn't go in there with a design and say 'we want this'...? They just get given, say, ten kits by the manufacturer and pick which one they want?

New Home Kit Released on 12:35 - Jun 3 by TrumptonBlue | Yeah, odd. The stripes on the shorts are black, which seems a strange choice as the black in the shirt is only really noticeable close-up. |
Club site calling them navy pinstripes so we've got blue on blue on white. Makes for a weird look!

New Home Kit Released on 13:56 - Jun 3 with 2075 views | DarkHorse | Would prefer the symbols to be a bit smaller, and it doesn't need the word 'tour', but that's just nit-picking - it's a good shirt.

Well yeah, we didn't have black pinstripes this season!

Just looks like a fairly standard blue shirt at first glance.

Please stop following me around, Texters. It's weird. And that you think calling someone female is an insult shows what a small-minded bellend you are. Take that to the WhatsApp group. [Post edited 3 Jun 2021 14:51]

Isn't the question why are they using Downes, Wolf, Dozzell? on 14:45 - Jun 3 with 1938 views | unstableblue | If they are confirmed as being encouraged going out of the door? Norwood, KVY (errrr.... I've forgotten who else is being retained) would have been expected. Or perhaps the three academy products have been given a helpline??

Be interesting to know when this was done though. Might have been a little while ago.

I have a feeling the photo shoot is fairly recent. Ed Announced 6th May. Cook told players to leave around 13th May (quoted as including those 3). So maybe it is a change of direction? who knows. Seems strange to use them as the poster boys if destined to leave.

New Home Kit Released on 12:34 - Jun 3 by itfcjoe | I like the kit, but then I liked the kit in 2019/20 and it looks exactly the same. Appreciate it is pin stripes rather than Chevrons, but it is not noticeably any different bar the change of sponsor |
It's lazy. The last throw from a lazy regime I think as these will have been decided when Evans and co were still enjoying their successful run with the club in the third tier...

What I find incredible about this whole thing is that the kits are chosen 12-18 months in advance. Phil can probably confirm but I think Lee Hyde, Lee O'Neill and others confirmed this to be the case. So at the time this was chosen it was either midway during the 2019-20 season or at the end of it, the season with the almost identical shirt. Somebody at the club, who wouldn't have known Magical Vegas were not going to be sponsors this season, or even than Carers Trust would be given the following season, has effectively signed off an almost identical design, pinstripes for chevrons aside. That speaks volumes about the old regime, given that you want the shirt to be different from the last few to encourage sales as much as possible to raise funds to improve the side etc.
New Home Kit Released on 17:15 - Jun 3 with 1734 views | Churchman | Being a boring old git I like it. Tbh as long as it’s not offensive like that ridiculous washed out one of the 90s or that ghastly 2000s one with the daft sash, who cares. White shorts - great. Sock - strange tops but not awful. A kit I wasn’t keen on was the 1999/2000 promotion one. Shiny and baggy. What was that all about? But by the time we were winning at Wembley they could have worn bin bags for all I cared.

I don't know how you can say 'pinstripes for chevrons aside." That is a design difference, and fairly major one. What would you expect from a football shirt?

I think when you see it from any distance they are very minor details, the trim, collar, cuffs, fact slightly different blue on arms etc makes it very similar, more so than any of our 2 kits in last 20 years or so and they are a year apart - previous poster makes good point about when it was signed off. I like both this kit, and the 19/20, but they are basically the same kit

I came across the below. Someone like Joe maybe a le to tell me if I'm wrong.. but ipswich arent a partner of adidas we do however buy adidas products via a third party so we wouldnt have any input into design other than pick a template kit. Add a badge and sponsor and that's it. Doing it this way I would imagine is cheaper for the club and therefore making more money for the club per purchase. https://www.footyheadlines.com/2020/10/adidas-pyramid-of-football-kit.html

As far as I'm aware Adidas is Town's official kit manufacturer. Adidas sell Town shirts on their website (for £60). They wouldn't do this if we weren't an official partner. The way adidas work is that they have their elite clubs, such as Bayern, Real Madrid, Juventus, Man Utd etc. They will make more bespoke kits for these sides who they spend a lot of money with. they also make a fortune from sales. Then there are clubs like Town who will get a template away kit but can have a bit of artistic license with the home. We are now in the last year of the Adidas deal and I would argue they wouldn't be thrilled that a club who they viewed as a potential Premier League club when the deal was signed, are now League One. Then there are clubs who have a deal via a third party, or just buy Adidas kits and add the badges and sponsors themselves. There are dozens of professional clubs who do this throughout Europe, especially in less affluent leagues As for the new kit, it is fine. 90% the same shirt as two seasons ago.
