The meal you have of an evening.. 09:26 - Aug 20 with 8740 views | artsbossbeard | ...what is it's official title? Lucan, who considers himself an educated man wrongly refers to it as "dinner" whilst the sane members of our whatsapp group call it by it's correct title of "tea". Settle an argument here, fellow blues.
| Please note: prior to hitting the post button, I've double checked for anything that could be construed as "Anti Semitic" and to the best of my knowledge it isn't. Anything deemed to be of a Xenophobic nature is therefore purely accidental or down to your own misconstruing. | Poll: | Raining in IP8 - shall I get the washing in? |

This is a good point. And it was served by dinner ladies. This has thrown a spanner in the works.

Just because something has a certain name it doesn't mean anything. Potatoes are vegetables but they aren't one of your five a day.

Need to come in here and say that sadly a potato is NOT in fact a vegetable.

A potato is a vegetable, botanically speaking.

The meal you have of an evening.. on 13:55 - Aug 20 with 1311 views | Trequartista | Depends on what meal you had earlier, not temperature. If you had a roast dinner at noon then beans on toast is tea. If you had a cheese sandwich at noon, beans on toast is dinner.

They were always dinner ladies until some daft European directive insisted they be called ‘lunchtime supervisors’. Now we’re out of the EU we should revert to dinner ladies.

The meal you have of an evening.. on 14:07 - Aug 20 with 1261 views | Timefliesbyintheblue | Methinks it is a generation 'thing' rather than a north/south divide. When my Dad came home from work in the 50's and 60's all he wanted was 'is tea', which we would now call dinner. Oh and whatever happened to elevenses?

The meal you have of an evening.. on 09:47 - Aug 20 by Pendejo | Genuinely not def info. There are more than 3 meal times in a day... Breakfast up to 10am from whenever you get up Brunch 10-12 Lunch 12-3 Afternoon tea 3-6 Dinner 6-9 Supper 9-12 Midnight feast 12-1 Anything after this is night shift territory and they can call it what they want. My theory is that "teatime" came about as kids will have a meal after school, thus at "(afternoon) tea time" and carried that into adulthood, whereas those who don't get home til after 6pm recognise it as dinner. Completely unscientific theory |
Early risers like myself who have breakfast before 7am might need to sneak in an extra Elevenses meal between then and lunch...
