Saturday's game feels a bit like Cheltenham 2020 09:13 - Dec 16 with 7371 viewshype313

In that I feel very uneasy about going, in fact I'm not going to go.

Can just see it being a situation where it's a mass spreader event.

Personally, I Think it might be wise to give it a wide berth.

What's wrong with that post exactly?

I've not told anyone to do anything, providing information and my view on that information is now "letting yourself down"?

So your saying I shouldn’t go? Just seeing as you asked me whether I think it’s a good idea and answered honestly.

I think if I didn’t go when the game is open to the fans and I have a ticket, is affectively the same as lockdown is it not? What have we got if we don’t have hobbies. The saturdays at the racing and the football are my hobbies and both involve mixing with crowds unfortunately

I've not said that anywhere, I only asked if you had any concerns.

You don't and we have different opinions on that but I've not said anywhere you shouldn't go.

Which he certainly isn't.

You carry on providing your "information", I don't know where we would all be without you.

What a load of rubbish, I've said very similar to someone else in another thread going at the moment as have a number of other people.

I'm sure Romford can look after himself and tell me I'm out of order if he feels that way without the need for your input. As you've said, he's not an easy target.

I’m not particularly fussed. Say what you want and I’ll only give my honest answers back. Was going to respond asking why only ‘hopefully’ my Christmas but didn’t think there was much point.

Enjoy yours too. Uppa Towen.

Fair enough, I withdraw that then as it could be seen as going too far, however it's worth noting that another poster has made the same point about Christmas just before I said that.

In the end it's up to the individual to assess the risk but we are now within the 10 day isolation period so anyone getting it today onwards shouldn't really be seeing anyone for Christmas (something that I am sure in reality won't actually hold true of course and I totally understand why).

That was all I meant by "hopefully".

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas given the last 20 months.

No chance I am going, don't want to ruin Xmas.

Edit - I am COVID + anyway, pretty sure I got it at Charlton.

Just watching Chelsea v Everton - feels like the Liverpool v Atletico match in the Champions League shortly before the first lockdown was announced. Seems like madness to have a crowd together like that.

We’ve come full circle and are now back at the start.

I love Rommers but Stokie's post was fine.

I don't think that line about hopefully enjoying Christmas was malicious. Going to the game is a gamble. Lots caught it at a match earlier this season and it's far more transmissable. There's a very real chance that a certain amount of people attending will be spending Christmas isolating.

Rommers isn't daft. If he wants to go then good luck to him.

Everyone that goes must go knowing that will be exposed to someone who is positive. Depends if you are then going to mix with some elderly relatives over Christmas. If you are, then it's a pretty simple decision.

That's nonsense. Where is your evidence I will be exposed to someone who is positive?

Really? A crowd of that size while a new highly transmissible variant is just beginning to take hold?

It's just common sense to assume there will be someone you contact during the day is either asymptomatic, entered a wonky test result or managed to slip past the less that stringent entry checks. It's just a numbers game and I think we can confidently say there will be people in that crowd who are positive.

If people then expect to mix with elderly relatives over Christmas, then there is only one sensible option.

Just because there will be people in the crowd who are positive doesn't mean everyone will come into contact with someone who is positive. What an extraordinary leap!

I've had 3 jabs, I'll be wearing a mask on public transport, I won't stay in the concourse at all (or go there at half time) and I won't mix with anyone other than my mates. The size of the crowd is irrelevant - it's not like they're all in the same room!

It's about being sensible. Suggesting everyone will get Covid and then attempting to shame us if we have elderly relatives is pathetic.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I'm just saying, in being in a crowd of that many people, you're exposing yourself to that risk. I'm suggesting the risk is now too significant to then go on to mix with anyone who it might seriously impact.

Tone it down notch hey?

I agree.

I've just made the decision not to go tomorrow as I'm seeing my elderly parents at Christmas. For me it's just not worth the risk. Was looking forward to it, big crowd and now the news we have new management team but somethings in life are more important.

So many people are getting in touch with me to say they've gone down with it.
I'm not worried about being ill with COVID especially now i have my booster but i would be worried about giving it to my parents.

I took a look at your posting history earlier, not a positive thing to say in any of your posts and very little merit in any of them either.

Given the situation, do you have no reservations about travelling to Ipswich for the match, attending with a big crowd and then travelling back?

I'm barely willing to stray far from my house at the moment to be honest.
