Def info received 12:50 - Jan 24 with 14416 views | homer_123 | Jackson AND Pigott are both heading out of Town. Jackson on a perm, Pigott out on loan view to perm move. If true....and it's a big if....it's hardly surprising given the recall of Simpson but hey.

Someone should go on Twitter and ask him. Oh... FWIW, shame if Pigott goes permanently without getting another chance. He looked alright at the start of the season in a team that wasn't quite working then had lost form by the time Cook needed him to play because Bonne's form had dropped off. Can't help thinking we should have given him more game time in September and October.

Quite agree. I think we should give him another season tbh . He’s a very good striker, but he’s had a lot go8mg on in his home life hasn’t he. Give him a chance I say…..

I tend to agree, pretty rough losing your father in your twenties plus the move and family to get settled into the area. I think there is a player in there who just needs a bit more time spent.
Def info received on 13:54 - Jan 24 with 4193 views | JDB23 | Simpson won’t even count towards the cap would he? Maybe we want to strengthen elsewhere but we’re at the limit so we replace strikers who count towards the cap with one who doesn’t.

I'm guessing that KM hasn't seen anything in training from Pigott he wants to use going forward or that the wages free up funds for someone he specifically wants. SB

Def info received on 13:28 - Jan 24 by itfcjoe | I don't disagree, but ultimately Pigott has a 3 year deal on lots of money - if he isn't the man for McKenna then you just have to take the opportunity to shift him if it arises as is going to be a hard deal for us to do otherwise as his stock falls. If Pigott is on best part of £10k a week, and you can shift him to utilise that elsewhere, then you've got to do it |
Hard to think where he will go - doubt we will let him move to a side above us and virtually all of those below us wouldn't even be able to cover half his wages. Unless a lower end Championship club are interested. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Def info received on 13:31 - Jan 24 by franz_tyson | Based on the Accrington game, we played with one up top but with maybe Chaplin as the second deep striker. If we continue with that - do we need another senior striker? Would Pigott be one that could interest a Championship side? Half season loan with option to buy. Risk-free punt. He did interest championship clubs in the summer and a championship club could afford his wages. |
I don't think we'll sign anyone. Bonne, Norwood Simpson, Chappers, Aluko and Celina for 3 spots between the 6 of them. I can see Piggott going on loan to a champ club.

Def info received on 14:10 - Jan 24 with 3960 views | jayessess | Pigott's on a long, expensive contract, if we or he has decided Ipswich isn't the right fit for him then a loan to the end of the season is for the best. If we're lucky he puts together some form and we recoup the wages and signing-on fee, no harm done.

We had high hopes for Pigott, but has he looked any more than an average 3rd tier player who might have had one fluke season when he scored 20 goals? As I'm sure he's on a generous contract given that he came on a free, shifting him might not be that easy so a loan to a club where he plays regularly might advertise his ability. The reality is that we have no strikers nailed on to be at Town next season. I hope it's not going to be another "all change" in the summer.

If Pigott is going out on loan, he'll be here next season, as will Norwood and if we go up, so will Bonne.

Not really surprised that Pigott didn't work out. Was never one for me. Back in July i stated: "hmm, this was one player i wasn't overly excited about but i suppose his last season was very decent. With Norwood and Bonne i can't see us adding any other striker...so Pigott would be our lot for strikers which I'd find a little underwhelming to be honest. Was really hoping we'd have someone a bit more proven at a higher level" [Post edited 24 Jan 2022 14:43]

Maybe he’s requested a move. He didn’t come here to warm the bench and if he’s had personal issues it’s best he gets back to playing football. If we give him a chance we’d have to drop players to accommodate him. We can’t keep stock-piling players. He could go out on loan and still be here next season anyway.

Whatever happens there's no way we'll have another Summer like last year. Last season we had 15 players out of contract, plus 6 loanees. That 21 players we could choose to move on without the need for any negotiation. This season it'd only be 9 and that includes Jackson, Nolan and Coulson, who've barely played, as well as Aluko , whose option we're sure to take. Even if Norwood, Bonne, Celina, Baqinson and Carroll all move on, that's only 5. We're not going to be arranging fee transfers for a dozen players to make up the difference!

I do find it ironic that the answer was there for Cook from the very first game against Morecombe. He took an ineffective Piggot off, threw on Bonne and Norwood...and Norwood's aggressively won header and flick on put Bonne in and he scored. er...duh!

It was very odd from Paul Cook that he never tried two up top when it won us a point in that game and we looked really strong for 20 minutes with them both on pitch. If we were winning games with just one up top i would have got it...but to not try it gain when we were struggling so badly at start of season was seriously odd...and it is when i first lost trust in PC and his judgement. He was a stubborn and one dimensional manager...that really disappointed me because its not what I expected.

It was much more than just not trying 2 up top that was the problem for Cook, though.
