Can we now all agree 18:18 - Apr 18 with 10823 views | pennblue | That sacking Paul cook has NOT worked out and in future we should give our managers a minimum of 2 transfer windows unless we are clearly bottom three I am quite sure he would have got us top six as his style of play, when executed consistently would result in top two form

Can we now all agree on 18:41 - Apr 18 by pennblue | I am not saying the first half of the season was better, but what McKenna now knows about this squad of players, Paul Cook already knew in December. |
He did? Is that why Woolfenden was struggling to get out of bed to go to training with the reserves whilst Nsiala was one of the first names on the teamsheet? The only reason Cook got as long as he did is Bonne's scoring streak.

Tbf Wolfenden played in 7 of the first 9 games of the season that people are using as the reason we arent finishing in the play offs. Yes I was shocked to hear we were looking to sell him when pc left.. but many back in august said wolfenden didnt look comfortable at all and hadnt done for a couple of seasons. Thankfully hes come back into the fold under KM and is back to being as solid as wed hope he would be. But I think its fair to remind everyone that wolfenden was given the trust when the season began and we shipped in nearly 2 goals a game. [Post edited 18 Apr 2022 19:25]

And it's become seriously clear that that was down to bad management.

Can we now all agree on 19:38 - Apr 18 with 1709 views | brogansnose | No, we can't all agree. Bloke should have been sacked when he was palpably worse than Lambert.
Can we now all agree on 19:40 - Apr 18 with 1702 views | LeoMuff | I was in the camp that he should have had more time, was very harsh imo as last season for me was a write off, then 19 new players leading to a poor start, play off form for two months solid then a big wobble over a month and binned. However KMC proven how to improve this side, the success at Wigan of his ex assistant and him now looking very shaky at Chesterfield have so far proven it was right. We should be given managers longer though in the future, unless they are Hurst or Lambert.

Can we now all agree on 19:44 - Apr 18 with 1687 views | Darth_Koont | Harsh response. Yes, you’ve probably overplayed it but there’s certainly an element of truth in this that we can learn from. McKenna like Cook hasn’t had time to create a team. I like what I’ve seen of him so far but he’s shown that getting the balance right isn’t an overnight thing. Especially with an almost entirely new squad this year, there’s just no blueprint. Falling away at the end of the season has been disappointing but I’m confident that K-Mac knows the attacking players that can provide that missing balance.

So really, all have had to operate with their feet & hands tied together. Lambert did the best he could with nothing. Cook got us scoring goals but we gave them away for free. McKenna has stabilised things but we’re looking as threatening as under Lambert! Somebody get us out out of this mess! [Post edited 18 Apr 2022 20:31]

Cook was a disaster with us (and is with Chesterfield) but he wouldn't have taken us down. If he had continued on the same ppg he was on when he was sacked we would currently have 62 points and in 11th. As it is we're on 65 points... and in 11th.

Some people would have given McKenna free pass this season. Don't know why. He has failed in his first attempt as we're closer to the midtable than top 6. Therefore there will be no excuses for him if we fail to get promoted next season.

Who has given him a free pass (Spoiler - no-one). He clearly hasn't failed, unless his remit was to win every game. He took over from an absolute lemon in Cook; any clown can see we're miles better. We're on 2 points a game, average, since he joined. Bad performances have been Wednesday, Gillingham (h), Cambridge and 2nd half of Rotherham. Every other game we've been mad dominant. Scoring enough? No. 2 strikers and an LB, and this team is flying.

Mckenna will have a proper window to get in the forwards he wants. He's been working with Lambert, Cook and Hurst's scattergun jobs.

No I'm not. But he will be if he fails to get us promoted next season. We occasionally score goals therefore he has to address it ahead of new season. [Post edited 18 Apr 2022 21:33]
