Continues to be a great look that a section of our fanbase seems intent on trying to create rivalries with the likes of Peterborough, Wycombe and Accrington

It's only really an issue because Accrington have so massively over-achieved in the last decade really.

If they were in a league where most of the clubs were the same size as them (National League North, I suppose), then every team would sell a fairly similar number of iFollow passes for away games, it wouldn't be worth complaining about.

As it is Accrington are in a league where they need subsidising by other clubs. TV money, big away followings, ropey transfer spending by bigger rivals (ahem), players developed by bigger academies, without all that money generated by fans of other clubs, their model can't work at this level.

He doesn't have any point.

It didn't affect match day attendance.

Just allows our large fan base to watch and provide revenue. They are Ipswich fans so we bring the audience.

He would love to be in our position!! And would do exactly the same as us.

Irritating man and not the way a club chairman needs to go about influencing.

He has a seat at the table to influence fellow club chairpersons and the EFL people.

If he didn’t take this approach, singling out ITFC, his message might be more powerful and understood by our fans. Essentially home clubs take proceeds of actual gate receipts, it’s not clear why this should be any different for the digital side of things other than that’s what was agreed from the outset of the digital era.

Now we are on this path, of course ITFC should be entitled to maximise their revenues through digital rights.

Should I write an apology?

To be fair, I do think he has a point. We lose our s*** whenever the big clubs in the prem talk about breaking away from the broadcast deals, to maximise their own broadcast revenue, as we all see that the overall spectacle of the league is benefitted by sharing the monies out more equally.

His Twitter bio is all caps:

"WHENEVER OUR CLUB IS SHOWN EITHER LIVE OR HIGHLIGHTS I EXPECT A FAIR SHARE OF PROCEEDS NO MATTER WHAT THE EFL DO OR SAY AND I DONT CARE WHO IS WATCHING THE GAME"

Does it work both ways and Accrington will compensate us for poor levels of interest/gate receipts when we tolerate their visit?!

Surely they're going to make the same amount back from the return fixture? And what about their own fans who couldn't be there and bought iFollow passes?

Edit: Or do they not have an iFollow subscription service for Burton supporters?

Edit edit: Or Accrington. Penny just dropped he's not even the Burton owner. WTF??
[Post edited 19 Aug 2022 10:52]

it use to be that the home side received the first 500 ticket money of the away side i follow sales plus their sales. so if accrington only sold 499 passes for a portman road game the town would get that money and accrington would get f.a.

At times, Holt raises some decent points, but his continual digs at ITFC are ridiculous as they are things beyond the club’s control. For someone going on about “fairness “ it’s ironic that the players at his club feign injury, dive and generally S house more than most clubs in this league. His campaign against Morsy was also hardly an act of Sportsmanship or fairness. I would love him to get a taste of his own medicine and get an EFL or FA sanction for something. He blocked me on Twitter for calling out his obsession with bad mouthing ITFC when our club does nothing to his. IF we can get promoted then the fact We don’t gave to face Accrington anymore will be one of the many added bonuses.

I hate so much that we’re having banter wars with Accrington Stanley. This is not something that should be happening. Time to get the fk out of L1 by any means necessary. Accrington, Burton, Cheltenham and others are over-achieving non-league clubs. It’s a disgrace we’re in their league.

Not sure that the overall spectacle of League One specifically benefits from Accrington's presence.

Roughly 20 out of the 24 teams in League Two have bigger followings than Accy home and away and would surely bring more "spectacle" if they were promoted to this level. The more you divorce ability to compete from ability to generate revenue from your own supporters, the more likely it is that you fill the EFL leagues with teams where actually live football in vibrant stadiums is more or less irrelevant to their existence.

Fairest way would surely be that the home side get all of the ifollow money that resulted in empty seats in the away end. For example, away team's allocation is 2000 tickets, 1800 tickets sold, home team gets away team's ifollow money for unsold 200). Surely the only complaint with streaming must be that it stops fans going to the stadium. If that's not the complaint, it's basically just moaning that some clubs have more fans than others.

but if you don't disassociate fanbase size from achievement, you are by definition preserving the status quo... you're essentially saying that no club should be able to grow.

He's got no point what so ever - can you imagine him offering money back if it were the other way around ?

It's the food chain - clubs aspire to get bigger and better ,grow commercially generating better income , increasing the fan bases etc .The clubs put the graft in to attract the bigger support over years , decades - why should he / they be spoon fed ?

I don't agree with the money Prem clubs get or the parachute payments but you know what , again it's the food chain

No he thinks the home club should keep it all.

If he wanted to he could launch Stanley TV and sell rights not through EFL, but he won’t because they have no fans
