With those 2 signings our squad looks pretty impressive doesn't it? 19:07 - Sep 1 with 2681 viewsDubtractor

Strength in depth in every position, genuine quality amongst it, full of proper grafting players, plenty of pace, and a bit of needle to mix it a bit.

No excuses for failure from here IMO, and to be honest I feel confident of top 2.

McKenna + backing + owners having ambitions of the Prem = exciting times.

It really is an impressive squad. I still fear a play off defeat and what the fallout from that would be, so let’s get top two and leave L1 behind for good.

Not relying on loans either. It’s clear MKis building the squad or group as he calls it. Great stuff. Very promising.

Suppose I’m a bit surprised at Camara? Purely because we seem well served in the engine room but may lack a forward. But by all accounts he is very good so I should shut my stupid face.
And yes, like you allude to; no excuses now. Good players in every position.

We all naturally talk of the playoffs like it’s a good achievement, but they’re such a lottery aren’t they? The reality is all 4 teams in them are going to be decent, hence they’ve finished in the top 6, and only 25% of them will be rewarded for it. If we’re in there with Peterborough or Sheff Wed, maybe a resurgent Derby etc it’s going to be tough. Too much down to chance for my liking, or a crap ref, or an off day. It’s so much easier said than done of course but I’m all about top 2. Not bothered if it’s 1st or 2nd frankly, but sod the playoffs, let’s get an automatic spot.

The encouraging thing for me is with our depth we should improve as the season goes on, relative to others. Over to KM now to navigate our way tactically. One at a time, and trust the process.

Up the Town.

I would say a crap ref is down to chance, more a dead cert in this division really.

We can’t afford to “ make the playoffs” , because it IS such a lottery . It’s Russian roulette, and rarely does the best team get promoted via it in my humble view. Nope, it has to be automatic promotion. But there’s many a dark, frustating night at PR ahead I fear, with the way so many teams will come to play here. Geting the first goal is a must isnt it!

For a rubbish league which I've heard from time to time on here you have to be a decent side to get out of it..

Long season - as long as we keep going in the right way, any bad luck should even itself out & we'd prevail over the majority. It'll be hard graft but KM is absolutely the right man to keep the group focussed both collectively & individually 👍

I'm impressed how we've kept all the other parts of the squad in place AND moved on Harper and Penney.

Have to say a bit concerned with how the end of the window is looking..... by BlueBoots 1 Sep 2022 6:54
Not just TJJ, but Jackson and Chaplin can both play as a 9 as well as a 10; we have our 6 regular players rotating in those 3 attacking roles, but the way we utilise our subs we rely on all of them being fit or available; our cover for those at the moment is probably Edwards, and then we'd be dipping into our youth team.

Having shipped out El Miz and Harper on loan, think it would be good to get another CM through the door. Leaving ourselves a bit light with Evans, Morsy and Ball - any of those out, and we're looking at Aluko filling in at a push, or Humphreys; think he showed a couple of nights ago he's got the potential to step up (and could play as a CM or a 10), but a big ask to throw him to a run of starts if we have players out.

If we can sign another CM & 9 or 10, think we could easily ride out anything but a major injury crisis.

More pace, athleticism and height than any Town squad I can remember and also good technical attributes in pretty much everyone. We should be ready to go.

I’m not sure if this is particularly relevant, but what impresses me is the breadth of where players have come from. KM isn’t just picking up players he’s worked with before. We’ve obviously got a decent recruitment network in place or KM has encyclopaedic knowledge of the game.

Attributes not positions, my man - don’t think we had anything quite like him in terms of ball carrying and pace from that deep.

I like that we seem to have the required horses for all of the varied courses that there are in League One now and can hopefully mix it with the worst of them if needs must.

Yes, Camara can break the lines from deep like few others in this division — very advantageous to have someone who can carry the ball and beat a man in those areas and in theory makes us more difficult/risky to press too.

What I love is that despite having May through to September for us fans to ponder who we might sign, neither of these was a name that had registered amongst us fans. The recruitment room is doing its job, just like every part of the club. Two superb acquisitions, one helluva squad now.
