OneLove Armband on 11:44 - Nov 21 by stonojnr | rainbow laces ? rainbow boots ? rainbow bandages ? presumably given FIFA are springing these changes at the last minute, it makes sense for any team/players planning to do something to highlight the cause, not to announce it publically first and give FIFA the heads up to invent a new rule banning it. |
Think they've gone about it the wrong way with the whole armband thing. It's essentially a small protest and I think in that situation it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission, so to speak. By stating their intention to wear the armband depending on what the punishment would be (fine/yellow card) then obviously FIFA will pick the option that means they don't wear it.

OneLove Armband on 12:34 - Nov 21 by Vic | Good! That's really the point of this thread. It just feels to me like like you're trying to point score and I think you're better than that |
He is not better than that. Worse, he only gets null points. Cake bakers can choose to refuse to put a message on a cake, but they can’t refuse service to someone because they are in a minority group. That was what was established by the ECHR. Just like a player cannot refuse to play in front of supporters from minority groups, but could choose to not wear an armband in support of those minority groups whilst playing. So Morsy and cake bakers do have the same rights.

Since the Countries involved gave FIFA two months notice of their intention it is clearly intended to appease Qatar. Guess we all know now what Infantino was going on about. FIFA sold their soul to the devil.

Interesting how you were bang against authoritarianism when it comes to infection control measures in a global pandemic, but apparently bang in favour of it when it comes to the rights of minority groups.

If Ted Kaczynski has written about it in his manifesto then maybe dear old Chickers would have more of a handle on what to think!

OneLove Armband on 18:28 - Nov 21 with 866 views | ibbleobble | Get armbands for the whole squad and get them all to wear them, they can’t ban the whole squad. If they want to kick teams out of a tournament for that, so be it. The whole event is an absolute sham.
OneLove Armband on 18:36 - Nov 21 with 845 views | Mullet | Very disappointing. This is very eloquent take from a bloke who knows his stuff too. It would be good if England players mentioned the armband in every interview, make it a talking point.

OneLove Armband on 10:27 - Nov 21 by C_HealyIsAPleasure | Kane wouldn’t just be carded and then carry on playing the game with it on though, he’d be expected to remove it immediately or receive another yellow and then the same with whoever received the armband Tbh I’d have quite liked to see us do it still as obviously would be a complete farce if the ref followed through with it to the point the game was abandoned, but pretty obvious the FA didn’t really have a choice given the way FIFA sprung the news at the last minute. They are definitely 100% against discrimination though as them bringing forward their own, non-specific campaign shows |
This. Exactly what I would have wanted to see. If the captain is dismissed, he gives the one love armband to the next player who takes over as captain. And so on, until there are only 7 players left and the game has to be abandoned. What would FIFA have to say about that. Sometimes, you have to stand up and call their bluff.
