Because they would, presumably, be sent to the stands

That could cause an interesting situation when an England player is injured during the match and no medical staff are allowed to attend him.

OneLove Armband on 10:44 - Nov 21 with 1385 views | NthQldITFC | FIFA are corrupt tvvats, and the FA haven't got anything like the bottle that Louise and the rest of JSO have. Not that the two issues are equivalent, but I wonder what sort of overlap there is in the support for each group of 'protestors'? Perhaps Harry Kane should pop up a gantry when they get back and see what the reaction is?

Yep, there are definitely other, clever ways of doing this if England engage their brains (and the FA agree ...). ðŸ³ï¸â€ðŸŒˆ

What better way to highlight the utter farce of this World Cup and FIFA's absolute futile attempts to appease these despot for the ref to be forced to come over and try to send one of our subs off for wearing a rainbow. Sham

Maybe there will be. Not sure what the card rules are but nothing to stop Kane and Bale both putting the armband on in 90th minute of the England/Wales game and taking a booking each.

OneLove Armband on 10:27 - Nov 21 by C_HealyIsAPleasure | Kane wouldn’t just be carded and then carry on playing the game with it on though, he’d be expected to remove it immediately or receive another yellow and then the same with whoever received the armband Tbh I’d have quite liked to see us do it still as obviously would be a complete farce if the ref followed through with it to the point the game was abandoned, but pretty obvious the FA didn’t really have a choice given the way FIFA sprung the news at the last minute. They are definitely 100% against discrimination though as them bringing forward their own, non-specific campaign shows |
The end result would be England dropping out of the tournament (having effectively thrown every game by getting all players ent off) amid a welter of ridicule and attacks from less principled nations and commentators. There'd probably be further sanctions down the line (for embarrassing FIFA). Some people would be happy to put the boot into England. I suppose one way to still involve the armband would be to wear it up until crossing the white line, then leave it sitting on top of the podium thingy they take the ball off (tho doubtless they have a radio controlled car or some other silliness to deliver the ball).

Even that would be worthwhile IMO to make a point. The ref booking him and him taking it off and taking it over to the bench would arguably be more of a talking point that just letting him wear it.

I'm not sure Francis, or The Vatican would go along with that.

Their taking the knee gesture becomes more poignant... and lets face it is now on 10:56 - Nov 21 with 1266 views | unstableblue | .. I'd suggest a protest against Qatari norms as much as racial equality in the minds of the players. Are the Farage and Patel inspired mob going to boo it again?

OneLove Armband on 11:07 - Nov 21 with 1199 views | Swansea_Blue | If anyone still doubted FIFA's motivations, hopefully this competition will have cleared up any misunderstanding. They obviously only care about money, not inequality. A shame, as sport can be used for the greater good and I'd have thought you could balance the two. But there it is.

OneLove Armband on 11:20 - Nov 21 with 1147 views | Vic | Utterly, utterly pathetic. I'd be all in favour of Kane, and the whole team wearing the band, getting booked, then sent off and the team having to leave the tournament. That would be a bigger statement than any taking the knee or other symbolic gesture. Someone, some team has to take a stand against these pathetic changes by FIFA. It;s like they've got the teams there under false pretences. And the Swizz/Italian guy has to go. Rant over - for now! [Post edited 21 Nov 2022 11:21]

FIFA has rules about items of clothing being used for political purposes. If they stuck to these rules absolutely, that would at least be a consistent position, but they have hopelessly muddied the waters by breaking their own rules with these silly proposed armbands that they intend to foist onto countries whilst not letting countries choose their own messages. The whole thing is just descending into farce, and it's totally FIFA's mess.

Actually on reflection I agree Failing that he could channel the spirit of Nicklas Bendtner and celebrate scoring by revealing his One Love rainbow pants, minus the Paddy Power sponsorship…
