Is Jeremy Clarkson misogynistic, racist or plain nasty? on 09:10 - Dec 20 by MattinLondon
What has this hot yo do with the thread?
Nothing and everything. The Starmer line amused me but it’s partly serious.
Clarkson has been misogynistic and racist as long as I can remember. When people like Clarkson and trashy outlets like the Sun aren’t just normalized but courted then they’re emboldened to go further.

But when your same point was made about ‘he who must not be named’ you cried “smear”.

Surely he's just pointing out that Labour is now less toxic and appeals to a broader range of people?
And yes, yes, I know. You would much rather have an unelectable Labour leader who fits your ideology and lets the Tories in for the next 50 years.
If people had been paying any attention they’d know that the most toxic lot are in charge now.
And I’d rather have a Labour Party and real opposition that wasn’t so obviously a right-wing party that’s going to do damage limitation for the status quo rather than tackle the underlying issues.
But we really are going off on a tangent now.

Anyway, getting this thread back on track. I dint think Clarkson’s attack on Meghan is racist. Anymore so than attacks on Priti Patel or Suella Braverman are. Meghan’s ethnicity is irrelevant in his attack. He also mentions hating Nicola Sturgeon, who is white and ginger.
His attack was definitely misogynistic though. Besides the fact that he seems very insecure with regards to women who are outspoken and in positions of power, his Game of a thrones analogy is misogynistic.
The GOT scene was deliberately misogynistic. If that had been Jamie Lannister striped naked and paraded through the streets, he’d have been swinging his cock about with pride. But with Cersi it was about taking the most powerful woman in the Westeros, stripping her naked and parading her as a frightened woman, with men shouting obscene comments at her.
I had the misfortune of meeting him once. We had blocked Hammersmith Bridge due to an accident, an he wasn't happy about being held up. A real "Do you know who I am " moment.

I've never met either of them so couldn't possibly comment on what's she's like.
I've not seen much to make me dislike her, nor him for that matter.
I make no secret of my distaste for the Royals as a concept but wish none of them (or their spouses) any harm.
She made a successful career for herself before matey came along though so credit to her for that. I'm sure not all of those born into privilege who may have looked down at her would be able to do the same.
Every day on this site, we sit in judgement of people we have never met. So i think if you cannot make a valid comment on her, you cannot make a valid comment on others.
Anyway I appreciate your position regarding Markle. Not everyone dislikes her. I personally feel the same way as Clarkson does, I just wouldn't use the same language that he did.
As I said, I'm sure he will rue the day he made those comments. I don't know if he is racist or misogynistic, but he is definitely nasty and overtly rude, but we knew that anyway!

You hate her on a cellular level and want to see her pelted with sh1t?
Ever since Clarkson first appeared on that programme where grown men do childish things with real vehicles I have felt that he might have been bullied at school. His attitude is not dissimilar to classic reaction in such cases.

Sorry but millions of kids bullied at school don't grow up to be misogynist, racist, plain nasty pricks.
He hadn't been the centre of attention for a few days, so decided to come out with yet another torrent of disgusting abuse to promote himself & ensure the ££KK keep rolling into his bank accounts..

What you say is self-evidently true, Ryorry. That doesn't mean that my thought of many years ago could not be true. It is well down the list of possible causes for his appalling attitude, however!
I remember many years ago saying on here what a pity there was a Clarkson Street in Ipswich. I was not serious, of course, as it was named after Thomas Clarkson, a commendable anti-slavery campaigner!

I didn't mention you. I said I wouldn't pass comment on her.
What you do is up to you.
Although twice on this thread, and I recall other threads before, you've referred to her as a fraud.
Fraudulent in what way is anyone's guess.
Edit: Actually I don't care. I doubt you've got anything to say that'll interest me.

Farage isn’t the only politician to be ‘attacked’ by food stuff. Loads have been egged - doesn’t make it right at all but it’s a bit daft for that caller to single him out like that.
What a lot of the free speech advocates seem to forget is that they can say what they want but there have always been repercussions - freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom of consequence. If Clarkson had attacked Kate instead of Meghan, I wonder whether the people defending him would still be by his side - I doubt it.
As far as I’m aware, and I could be wrong, he hasn’t actually apologised for his w**k fantasy. Instead he tweeted ‘Oh dear. I’ve rather put my foot in it. In a column I wrote about Meghan, I made a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones and this has gone down badly with a great many people. I’m horrified to have caused so much hurt and I shall be more careful in future.”
A cowardly initial response from a complete A* prick who no doubt is loving the attention.
You are redefining free speech there.
I personally don’t think free speech exists because if you say the wrong thing someone will throw a milkshake at you.

Not really, there are two different definitions of “Free Speech”
In simple terms people can exercise their reason in public and/or speak their minds. It has always been the case that in the latter definition, people are not free from consequence.
No Platforming and throwing things at people that speak their minds, for people whose minds are filled with hateful stuff, has been happening since the Ancient Greeks.
I bet Socrates wishes Milkshakes were invented sooner.

Ah well. At least it debunks the myth that all racists voted for Brexit.
Fair enough. I hadn't spotted that one.
Of course, an alternative narrative is that he is misogynistic and against Markle for not being loyal to the royals and that he isn't actually a racist after all!
I quite like clarkson myself. I don’t agree with some of the stuff he says. But on the whole I like him. Albeit I know that won’t go down well on here.
I also admire the way Meghan and Harry went about things to get away from the press and the royal family who themselves sound like a bit of a sham. I do question why on Earth theyd make a show about how they don’t want the attention etc though. It’s a bit naive to think some people wouldn’t use that as a stick to beat them with. You either don’t want to be in the limelight or you do? But if you only do when it suits, then you’ve got to expect some stick from some people.
That said, as for the article.. I didn’t like the mention of Rose West. That’s way OTT to be comparing Meghan with. I think that was wrong.

I'm sure they would like to gradually fade out of public view but they aren't going to because he's a price. They want peace and security which unfortunately in this world is going to cost a lot of money because he's likely a prime target. Their one saleable asset is this story.
From the outside it seems like Harry's been backed into a corner and is reluctantly playing the only hand he has.

Harry has backed himself into the corner. For everyone's sake, I hope that this pair just now stay quiet and get on with their lives and we don't have to hear from them again

On the flip side, there are plenty who seem to want the Labour Party to morph into some kind of "respectable" Conservative party-lite, presumably so that they can keep on voting for the same old Boomer regressive policies without those awkward feelings of embarrassment and shame, rather than having a Labour party represent, ya know, left wing politics.
Some people want conservatives policies for the next fifty years, they just don't want them to be implemented by a party called the Conservatives.
