I genuinely can’t believe it 09:37 - Dec 26 with 10702 views | LeistonBlue | We’ve actually sold out a regular season league one(!) match against Oxford United, with no ticket promotion or anything of the like. Just blows my mind . This club is going places..
I genuinely can’t believe it on 09:39 - Dec 26 with 8559 views | Mullet | Not to diminish it, but Boxing day at home and on a good run doesn't make it that surprising does it? Hopefully it becomes regular enough to continue through the promotion push.

Still better than any of our attendances in the Championship during 2014/2015. I guess Charlton at home on 30th December may have managed it had it been a 3pm rather than 7.45pm kick off. Derby - where our slide started - was a 12.45pm kick off and we only just scraped 20k for that.

True, but we weren't quite the big fish in that season and there wasn't the same renewal of a new manager etc. This season we've been getting closer and closer to these numbers recently and away ends are going too. It's been good to see.

I genuinely can’t believe it on 10:18 - Dec 26 with 8275 views | Vic | Did I read somewhere that it could be our biggest ever Boxing Day crowd, therefore bettering all the 70’s and 80’s glory days? But then, we did rather take our success for granted.

Ground capacity was lower then, the real surprise is that it may exceed attendances during some of the Robson years.

Did we have a home match on Boxing Day that season? The ground is bigger than it was too so that plays into it but it is offset by the increased potential that standing allows. Our capacity is smaller than the record attendance, isn't it?

Record is 38k+ so without a major development to the ground, we are not going to get anywhere near that.

Via Statman on Twitter: “Portman Road’s highest ever Boxing Day attendance is 28,476. This occurred back in 1975 when Ipswich Town defeated Arsenal 2-0 in Division 1.” We had 28,415 v Derby and that wasn’t a sell out so every chance we go above that today

Just had a quick look. Highest I can find in Robson years was 28,476 v Arsenal in 75/76 and we got 29,596 against Norwich on Monday 27th Dec in 82/83 Either way this game is pretty unprecedented. Interestingly while researching I note that in 60/61 we played Norwich away on 26th and then again at home on 27th - we won them both.

Highest average is around 26,700 (there are slight discrepancies depending on your source) in 1976/77. We're currently on just over 25,500, so there's every chance a new record could be set if the promotion challenge is maintained.

Beat QPR 2-1 but tbf, it was a late Chambers header past Rob Green, who had been attempting to wind up the SBR all afternoon, and was very enjoyable indeed.
