Biggest game of the season so far tonight? 12:15 - Dec 29 with 3759 viewsWallingford_Boy

Seems to be thought of that way and rightly so.

On paper looks like a Town win, but you never know with us and our frailty against the "big" sides.

We win and the season really lifts off, we don't and it could easily go the other way..

I'd take a point.

RIP Sir Bobby

I'd rather we had a real go and lost rather than accept a 0-0 draw. Stuff that, it isn't what we about and why should it be?

Nice to see you being negative about towns prospects though rather than just going on about Jackson at every opportunity.

Some of our fan base remains extremely odd.

Lots seem to have a Portsmouth fetish as well and massively overestimate them.

They will be a challenge, especially away from home, but there's a reason they are not challenging the automatic places.

This is where someone comes along and says 'if they win their 3 games in hand...' despite them having won 1 game in 12.

Truly impaired.

I have been thinking about this a lot since Saturday but I just can't see us going on one of those runs where we don't win in 6 for example and it completely derails us. The other two teams are going to have to be on it constantly for the second half of the season to keep up and again, cant see it happening.

I am still so nervous about us because it is Ipswich and we aren't used to this after so many years of the banter era. It feels like it is about to end with a banging promotion but I dread to think what would happen if we just missed out this year.

That being said with this squad, and some additions en route, I remain confident.

So are Portsmouth are not a big team then? As they are not in the top 7? Which makes your original post seem a bit strange.

Or are you calling them a big team? If so, you need to add them, Port Vale, Bristol Rovers and Peterborough to Derby as big teams we’ve beaten this year.

Pompey are arguably the biggest side in the league.

Port Vale and Bristol Rovers? Not so much.

Wednesday and Derby are bigger and I would say we probably are too. What are you basing your opinion of them being the biggest on?

Yes I can't see the second 23 games yielding anything more than a +/-5 variance from the first 23 games, particularly when we strengthen in January. Which means we end up between 91-101 points. Def info.

Saying that I struggle to see Sheff Wed/Plymouth not making 90 points from here either.

Oxford was bigger off the back of a loss and a big expecting home crowd.we don’t need to build games up, we need to be winning or taking points in all games to have a chance at promotion. I take the point that a win could be a spring board and we do need a run of results to put pressure on others at some stage.

I love this 'we can never beat the big sides' nonsense that some fans seems to think only happens to us. Theres a reason the hard to beat sides are up the top end of the table.

As an example, Liverpool failed to beat any of the top 4 last year yet still finished on 92 points, falling one point (and GD) short of the title. No one looks at them as being frail against the big teams..

Why? Did they have too much Christmas dinner? Or is it a Cowley tactic to cram the team full of 7-footers?
