Keogh and Fridge were solid tonight. 22:24 - Jan 24 with 5596 views | GlasgowBlue | Put their bodies and heads on everything. Keogh was also a much needed leader in defence. Never stopped talking throughout the game.

Keogh and Fridge were solid tonight. on 09:31 - Jan 25 by bournemouthblue | The iFollow team mentioned the fact Fridge and Keogh played at Morecambe away so there's clearly some thinking into their physical approach. Keogh is probably better suited to the slower more physical sides, if opposition have pace, he looks very vulnerable |
Missed that re your first para - interesting. Yes re your second para - needs to have young legs around him, in which case he & they are complementing each other in play.

Keogh and Fridge were solid tonight. on 11:02 - Jan 25 by BondiBlue | Took issue with your use of the word crazy to describe my fairly uncontroversial opinion. You came across as a bit unnecessarily aggro. If you must have it, i think edmondson was actually dropped at least in part for his passing. He's dropped at least 3 absolute clangers this season where he's passed it straight to an opponent in a really dangerous area. When burgess passes the ball, it usually goes to a teammate. I know, i'm clearly insane. |
But I only used it in reference to his passing, nothing else and I stand by that. I honestly think it's a bit crazy to say that Burgess has superior passing to Edmundson but then we all tend to see things differently. He's more progressive in his passing and thus is likely to make a few more errors but with some more possible upside. SB

Keogh and Fridge were solid tonight. on 09:40 - Jan 25 by itfcjoe | Guess we'll see longer term - but felt like this was just a rest for Woolfie and Burgess and they'll be back for the Burnley and Cambridge games. I was a little disappointed with Edmundson on the ball as felt a big opportunity for him to wrestle the shirt of Burgess. He did get 3 headers at goals from corners, so is much more dangerous in the opposition box than anyone we have |
I think he’ll go with the same pair against Burnley. It’s a free hit and gets Keogh and Edmundson more game time. I think we will see a back 4 of JD, Keogh, Fridge and Leigh.

Keogh and Fridge were solid tonight. on 11:34 - Jan 25 with 719 views | itfcsuth | Can’t recall it being massively tested. However, think bringing Keogh in was a really smart tactical decision from KMc, given the fragility lately of the defence, a man who has seen all there is to see in football, and a real vocal leader from the back with vast amounts of experience to organise things up was really really shrewd by KMc

Keogh and Fridge were solid tonight. on 08:54 - Jan 25 by pointofblue | Our big issue is with low block and/or high press. They did neither. Would love to know what Adams’ game plan was. |
They may of had a plan but we punched them on the nose within a minute of the game starting which undoubtedly changed what they wanted/needed to do! It's why fast starts are so important.

Keogh and Fridge were solid tonight. on 10:42 - Jan 25 by ElderGrizzly | And both played against Morecambe earlier in the season, which i’m sure had a part to play in McK’s decision making. Keogh was there to deal with a more physical presence of Stockton too and did it well. |
Keogh can also pick a Lovely pass as well.

Too often in recent weeks it's been our opponents that have started fast & not allowed us to settle into our style - so happy we reversed it last night - well done KM, team & MA on the reset

Keogh and Fridge were solid tonight. on 10:35 - Jan 25 by StokieBlue | I disagree with pretty much all of that. Burgess is probably better in the air (although Edmundson is more of an aerial threat at corners) but in all the other aspects you've cited I think Edmundson is the superior player. Burgess better at passing? That's a crazy assessment in my opinion. Burgess is very slow at moving the ball, needs an extra touch or extra time to decide what to do when passing. Burgess has done fine at a time he was needed but Edmundson is the better player. SB |
In my very humble opinion I think Edmondson is a better player than Burgess, it was only last year he was a complete rock, he got into a bit of a funk after his injury and it takes time to get back to your former self. Burgess has his merits, but for me, overall I think George is better. But I do also see the opposite point of view, and if we're honest, neither are at Woolfie's level.

Interestingly the only area wolfy needs to improve on is his personal battles. Just looking at his ground duel figures compared to Keogh. It makes sense why Keogh got the go ahead v stockton https://footystats.org/players/england/luke-woolfenden https://footystats.org/players/republic-of-ireland/richard-keogh [Post edited 25 Jan 2023 13:21]

A real leader on the pitch and he played some excellent passes out of defence to get attacks going. May need to be used sparingly. His passing would be curtailed by a team that presses high and he may well be exposed against pacy strikers but I thought he made a big difference last night.
