It is disgusting that the term 'Christian' is so often being used to mean 'bigot'. It is not mainstream Christianity that forms her views on LGBT+.
Mainstream Christianity is still pretty homophobic, tho. There's a LOT of T's and C's attached tp 'let him who casts the first stone' and 'love thy neighbour'.

The C of E is moving steadily towards much more tolerance. But the church has a wide variance of thoughts on LGBQT+ matters. The recent agreement to bless gay couples (but not bless their marriage) is a small step forward. But do remember it took 2000 years to get to this point so no one's going to change quickly. The evangelical wing of the C of E and the (not connected) fundamentsalist Christian church that presumably this mum belongs to are not even at the point of tolerancve that the majority of the Anglican bishops have reached. As asides: turn the other cheek does not mean be a doormat we don't know enough about Jesus' sexuality to say he was straight, gay or even perhaps celebate. But some people will hold an opinion based on not much knoweldge. As most of those on TWTD find out each and every day!

The thing is that if you read Jesus' words in the New Testament* (as opposed to the later teachings of organised religion), they set out a perfect framework to live one's life, and are extremely tolerant.
"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
Sadly, organised religion appears to be obsessed with sin, and completely misses the humanity in Jesus' teachings.
* I have a pocket version of the New Testament with his word with his words in red ink.

It has all the hallmarks of what is going on in the US, and seems just another front on the anti-woke culture wars.
They are a horrible organisation in my opinion. They formed "Alfie's army" that intimidated and threatened Alderhey staff and get involved with lots of right to life campaigns.
When parents are at their lowest and desperate they encourage lawsuits and going against NHS advice etc.

According to the Guardian today Welby would rather disesatablish the CofE as the 'official' church than risk annoying the more conservative global church if forced to allow same sex marriage. It's 2023 ffs.

Prevented from reading the article by my adblocker, but picking up the gist from the replies here, I hope someone rapidly points out to her & other bigots that she & her son, along with another approx 14 million people*, might not be alive today if it weren't for the work of a gay man who was eventually driven to suicide by the ignorance, hatred & malevolence of homophobes like her.

*edit - estimated no. of lives saved by his Enigma machine, which was also estimated to have shortened WW2 by 2 years.
