Barnsley to win 100%, would love them to smash Plymouth 5-0 in the final and do Bolton over in the semis

It's just that the Mariner connection and the wez cunry attitude and accent that enamours me a bit of Plymouth. But the 'ow-doo, ecky thump brigade in central London that morning were charming.

Just cancel all precessional domestic fixtures for the weekend/ten days or shovel them all to seasons end. Everyone knows where they stand then. If clubs agree to bring a fixture forward to those dates, fine. Simple.

Better still, cancel internationals, especially the friendlies

Plymouth are far too tied to Norwich this season it's put me right off them. I mean Mumba and the other one are kind-of forgiveable, but they even shared washing machines and towels on the Friday before playing us here

They’re right to be annoyed. Seems there’s a weird gaping loophole around international call-ups and we’re in the middle of it.

If that is the case then they have a right to be annoyed but…who cares..well apart from Barnsley fans.

Somebody said it elsewhere, think it was the BBC live chat - why not axe the spring international break, move the season forward a week and then hold the internationals at the end instead? Have four games in June instead of two.

There needs to be an investigation between FIFA, the EFL and Town about why Jamaica stated they would pick him then changed their mind. It is a bit of a mick take on our part though; akin to Grimsby in 02/03 when we used a U21 (was it Sean Friars for Northern Ireland) to cancel the trip as we were missing a couple of first teamers. Friars was never going to start back then, and it was highly unlikely that Leigh was going to make the squad on the 25th.

I can understand why we wouldn't want to go there without Burns and Broadhead, but can see why Barnsley would be peeved.

I do have a real soft spot for Barnsley - after their play-off defeat at Wembley I thought that they were extremely graceful in defeat. I’m not sure many of our fans would have been as gracious and sporting. The majority of their fans will understand why the match was postponed and conclude that Ipswich acted in good faith.

But, the minority who think that Burns isn’t a regular and think that something dodgy as happened…well, f**k them.

That day at Wembley was fantastic, and we remained good friends with Barnsley for quite some years. It would be a real shame for that to end now, when we've done nothing wrong (albeit there seems to have been a silly cock up somewhere along the line).

No, we are not in the middle of it. As far as I can see, the rules are there, we abided with them.

Rubbish international games at the wrong time and useless rules and international organisations.

Clues in the name, they're called UnstableBlue for a reason!

Whilst everyone is looking on each others boards...

Dear Barnsley Fans,

Kindly give us the two points you stole! Marcus Harness' goal was legimate.

Also, as you're playing Sheff Wed tomorrow, kindly tell them we're still waiting for their game to be played behind closed doors for all the objects their fans threw at our players. And we also expect to have 2 points given back to us for that the obvious offside.

Once those 4 points are delivered, and once Barnsley and Sheff Wed are docked 1 point, we'll happily talk about that 3-0 suggestion.

On a serious note, you're having a great season so far, well done, hope it doesn't last.

The one that suggests that Jamaica were in on it for reasons that I still can't fathom is quite amusing.

In the end there are pros and cons for both teams keeping the fixture for this Saturday and for having it on 25th April. The notion that it is so beneficial to us to move the game that it is worthwhile us getting involved in some kind of international conspiracy is pretty ridiculous and I'm guessing most of their fans realise that. But as others have said it suits them to whip it up into something that sees them hard done by and give it extra edge.

They acknowledge one of the cons for us themselves - taking far fewer fans to their manor for a Tues night than we would for the 3pm k/o on Saturday.

I wonder if they're also aware that we've not done well in our recent history following int. breaks, which made a few of us (incl myself) not wholeheartedly enthusiastic about the postponement.

How is it a mick take on our part? You are literally helping to feed Tykes fans that we did something to bend the rules.

Read Phil's news report, its really simple, the Jamaica FA sent all the paperwork and travel docs for Leigh's call up. On that basis the club legitimately thought 3 players had been called up. Further and MORE IMPORTANTLY, the EFL believed we had 3 players called up so agreed to the postponement.

So stop pedalling any line the club is to blame here at all, it followed the rules, The Authorities (FIFA, EFL etc) need to look at timings, when is a final squad announcement and apply the rules accordingly.

Using Leigh as number three in the first place is slightly taking the mick considering he last appeared in a league match day squad on February 11th, and last started for us in the league on January 2nd. Hardly a key component, is he?

We did everything above board. From a regulation point of view it was Jamaica who screwed up, not us. But using Leigh as number three rankles slightly, and would have done even if he had been called up. Probably irrationally, I acknowledge that.

Hardly taking the mick, what happens is Davis gets a knock in training? Leigh would then be a starter.

Its been mentioned many many times, McKenna wants an attacking bench, with 1 all round defender on the bench. Leigh unfortunately doesnt fit that mold. But he would be straight into the starting 11 if Davis was injured.

Amir Karic never got anywhere near our first team for much of time at Town, but we often used him as the third call up.

Your last line is incredibly poor & bang out of order.

Barnsley are a very decent lot, many (most?) of us have always had a soft spot for them since the POF, when they were outstanding in their sporting spirit & good nature, esp considering the gigantic disappointment of defeat for any side in that particular match.

They're the club I'd least want to disadvantage with any dodgy behaviour.

Absolutely.

I bumped into a couple of their fans in a solicitors' office in Spain of all places a few days after our game earlier in the season. They'd also been to the game and we had a lovely chat. At the end, I said I hoped they got promoted, and they said the same for Ipswich.

Don't think they need to worry about us only taking a few fans. Not the way things are this season.

Reckon if there was a fixture kicking off at 2am on a Monday morning in the Outer Hebrides it wouldn't reach general sale.

Leigh is a bona fide first teamer, who would be straight in the team if anything happened to Davis and is only not getting in squad because McKenna elects to have 1 defender on the bench and Clarke/JD are more versatile.

It's not like the days of Sean Friars (who was only here so Matt Holland didn't miss games), or even a year or two back with Adam Przybek, Armado Dobra or Anthony Georgiou. Leigh is often 19th man as well.

I am struggling to understand what using Leigh as a number three has to do with it.

Surely it doesn’t matter if he’s a key component or there to cut the half time oranges if he’s part of the squad, he’s part of the squad. Thems the rules aren’t they? It’s not for the FA, Barnsley or anyone else to weight the importance of a player to a squad. If it’s three, it’s three.

This really isn’t ITFCs problem and I’m struggling to see how we are taking the mick. Please explain.

If we went down a road of must have played in the first team as a starter the previous 4 weeks or some other nonsense it’d be even more chaotic than it is. The solution is obvious, not that the international blazers across the world will ever come up with something sensible. They never have.
