One nasty tackle, a few other niggly ones and all the nonsense on Walts.

Gees man way to make someone move on.

That poster on my wall is coming right down.

Poll: Incentives to want to be promoted

I don't think he has/ever had much affection for us. He was great for us, excellent at times, but I always felt he was using us as a stepping stone (think we turned down a few £mill bids for him. Him being an ever present before us with Coventry, then after us with Sheffield Utd and Derby, depsite being even older...surely it wasn't just his commute that caused his glass knees here.

Did he really need to wear gloves? I'm not in the UK but can't believe it was that cold!

Really?

1. He's a Derby player...he's trying to win the game for them not us.
2. He was never sweetness and nice, he was always in with niggling tackles as any decent forward is...off the ball stuff etc...when he was with us

I think that's harsh. The three clubs you've named are all within 45 mins of his home so travelling to FPR can't have helped if his knees are shot. He's apparently barely training with Derby to preserve his fitness for match days.
He's also a Nottingham boy playing for Derby so I think he's just a good pro - affection or otherwise.
He applauded us at the end of the game.

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

As an aside to that, when we were at Sheffield United the day they got promoted, we did press in the tunnel and he made a point during the celebrations to come over and say hello or hug anyone he knew from Town, including the media staff. Always came across as a good bloke whenever I had dealings with him.

There were glimpses of his class and a couple fouls that seemed to be borne out of frustration but there were large parts of the game he was just wandering about. When we played out from the back he was just a spectator, didn't even break into an amble. The gloves were there for his stationary senior moments.

Can't believe the disrespect on his name frankly. A mint player, a top bloke and he has no business being soft touch against us.

He was by some distance the best player to play for us during that period. He was worth the entrance money alone. When fit and firing it was a pleasure to watch him play.

I suspect his poor fitness at ITFC was as much to do with the rudimentary care he received here as anything else. That and the way Mick’s teams played.

In terms of what he got up to yesterday I wasn’t there so can’t comment but he always knew how to look after himself.

He's a centre forward in a Paul Warne team, all of those things are standard. As others have mentioned, he always had that edge in his locker even when he was here too, you don't make it at the level he has without a bit of that edge. That said, an absolute class act as a player and think Phil's anecdote speaks volumes about his character too. If he did applaud the fans at the end as others have mentioned, then that again shows that he's a good lad.

Also kept on playing and not sulking when we turned down £7m from Leicester who went on to win the premier league.

No, I thought he was fine. And always great to watch him.

We got the deserved win and he was their best player so perfect day for a Town fan.

Na, he had his job to do, still showed his class. Saw a few of those tackles when he was down here!

He gave the away end a little clap at the end and his song was sung for a few seconds.

He got a good ovation when he was warming up before the game, and he made a point to applaud the Town fans after the game. He is still a very good player on the ball, thankfully his finishing has remained average.

It was meant as slightly tongue-in-cheek, as it is I took his poster down years ago now.

Didzy is certainly not on my list of Ipswich legends so not bothered about him tbh. Chappers has the potential to be a far better player than McGoldrick ever was so I’m focused on our team right now rather than those that wanted to leave this wonderful club

I agree his tackle on Chaplin was horrible. I think Warne told his players to go out and rough our players up.

The thing that shocked me most was the pace he showed at times. He’s 35 and showed more pace than he ever did for us. If he ever burst into anything more than a jog for us his hamstring went. Our previous medical and conditioning team must have been truly dreadful.

Frustrated at his career winding down maybe? He’s had a pretty decent season, fair play to him. But he can’t get round the pitch as well as he could.

Did you even think about this theory before posting it?

Not sure being out injured regularly is a great way to put himself in the shop window if he was using us as a stepping stone.

Truly impaired.

I still like him a lot, but he was lucky to stay on the pitch yesterday. He should've been given a second yellow for that foul on Morsy in the centre-circle between the disallowed goal and our second.

He was clearly fully committed yesterday, would expect nothing less tbh.

I did think the ref could have been stronger and tried to calm him down, was expecting a dangerous lunge/red card but he kept it together, just.

Mcgoldrick has scored 19 times in 38 games for Derby this season. Not bad going for a 35 year old.

As others have said he has always had that bite to his game. He wanted to win and in the moment he probably couldn’t care less that the opposition was Ipswich. As it should be.

Off topic, I don’t particularly understand players who don’t celebrate against their former clubs. Clap each other at the start and at the end, but no love lost during the match itself.
