John Peel is still deified by some despite some rather dodgy revolutions. Having greats taste in music shouldn’t give anyone a feee pass.

Best not even mention Bill Wyman - that was some weirdo mentalist shenanigans. From memory Mandy Smith's mum ended up with Bill Wymans son.

Wasn't the point that BJ has manifestly been allowed to get away with it? indeed is still lauded by many dyed-in-the-wool tories.

They're probably, quite rightly, mindful of another enquiry - Midland - and how horribly wrong that went, with several high profile figures incl. former prime minister Sir Edward Heath, the former home secretary Leon Brittan, the then chief of the defence staff Lord Bramall, the ex-MI5 chief Sir Michael Hanley, as well as the former Tory MP Harvey Proctor, & Cliff Richard being falsely accused, their names & accusations regularly being splashed over the front pages, followed by their names & reputations being unjustly tainted for years. I believe a couple of them died before the truth came out & Beech himself was found to be a liar and paedophile. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2019/jul/22/how-nick-the-serial-child-abuse- [Post edited 27 May 2023 12:45]

The major problem isn't in the infidelity, but having said that, I'm going to remove my previous post in a sec, as I don't want to a)get into a debate like this on a sunny day and b) don't want to be a judgemental arsehole.

Wow, straight to political Whatsboutism even on this subject matter He was following him on twitter in 2011, which indicate he knew him at an even younger age and then got him a job as soon as he was old enough. What a weird first thought to go to and post. They aren’t remotely similar. TWTD is a weird place.

That post was based on what we know now - that’s all any of us can do, rather than speculate. if there’s new information that comes to light I’d be able to change my position. As it stands, both have betrayed loved ones, lied about it and (seemingly for Schofield and definitely for Johnson) abused their positions of power. Affairs are affairs whoever commits them. Abusing a position of importance/power/trust isn’t good, whatever the position. Obviously if Schofield is lying about the timelines and he’s done something illegal then it’s a whole different ball game. [Post edited 27 May 2023 23:41]

As far as I know the rumour is that a current or previous boyfriend was someone who he helped get a job whilst he was a younger man / boy. Quite frankly I'm not interested in tittle tattle, if he has done something illegal or set something up which is in bad taste then let the powers that be sort it out. At this time (and as mentioned I am not privvy to any definite info) I am thinking that it's bad enough when you wake up and realise you have been a complete tit in the pub the night before, or got into a bit of bother - or that sort of thing. .........but to have the whole country and it's glorious media on your case is unimaginable and at this point my main worry is that it might all end extremely badly -
