Artistic statement or entitled petulant behaviour?
I’m inclined to go with the latter.it’s up to the artist to put on the show of their lives and win over people who are not their usual audience.
When Slade were last minute replacements for Ozzy Osborne at the Reading Rock Festival, the crowd threw bottles at what they perceived to be glam rock has beens. Two songs in Slade won them over with their musicianship.
"Annoying all the right people" is the cool thing to say on here isn't it?
The clip is context free so hard to judge what led them to this.
Personally, the first album was great and they've gone downhill ever since. They were fresh upstarts then. Now? Perhaps they've believed their own hype too much. Lyrically they don't seem to have much left to say.
I imagine if it were an artist you liked (now or back in the day) you'd be saying well done them, artistic statement.
I can't imagine an artist I like ever being desperate enough to play at Radio 1's Big Weekend.
They had a couple of massive albums, whilst I think all involved ought to have question the booking once booked you have to make the best of it don't you....
Blues Brothers at Bob's Country Bunker spring to mind
You are the obsolete SRN4 to my Fairey Rotodyne....
He turned up determined to antagonise his crowd and spent the whole gig stropping about a gig, for which he was presumably being paid well to turn up at.
I have a degree of sympathy as Mrs Badger is a part-time jobbing musician and every musician has faced indifferent crowds at times, but at no point is it wise to start off antagonistic and then double down on it as a way of trying to win people over.

Now here are a couple of real pros, not getting arsey with an unappreciative crowd..
I think every band that ever was have had bad gigs for various reasons. Most bands seem to lose the plot for a while when they tour too long abroad that you don't hear about it in the news. Unfortunately for the Royals they seem to have done it under the glare of the British media. The Royals have got nothing on what the Fatima Mansions did in Milan to get thrown off the U2 tour though.
Have to say I was expecting rather more than what happened having seen the comments on it, elsewhere more than here, having seen bands and audience trading blows and insults in the past.

Not sure there was much trading blows tbh, the audience seemed to be too bored to get involved.
I was born underwater, I dried out in the sun.
I started humping volcanoes baby, when I was too young.
The Foo Fighters, as someone mentioned earlier. The White Stripes. Faithless. Kasabian, Razorlight. Muse, The Prodigy. Even Madonna!
Appreciate I'm leaving myself wide open here, everyone has their favourites, but it's not just the likes of "Bananarama and Rick Astley."
Yeah that was tongue in cheek dollers. I saw Kasabian at the big weekender in Glasgow a few years ago. Katy Perry was headlining. Had to carry a paralytic drunk Mrs GB out halfway through Katy singing “Fireworks”.

Fireworks is one of the best songs ever. Its just a shame that no one will admit it.
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Jesus, Lady Dollers gets a bit like that so I feel your pain.
That was what I meant, not much happened at all. Heard bands at festivals get much more snippy with unresponsive audiences.
Think the problem sometimes is that these bands generally play 99% of the time to their own fanbase who are heavily invested in them, when they go to festival's or park days, the majority aren't into them as much they hope, which is why the get snarky.

Probably. In part also as they're often on early afternoon and the crowd aren't really in the mood.
A lesson learnt early on when doing stand up was NOT to blame the audience. I saw someone who is now a TV name, in his early days dying on his arz. He apologised, joked with the audience, stated that even he would be booing ..... and lord and behold they wanted him to stay on stage (5 more minutes).
The grudging words were '' well he wasn't that bad, everyone has to start somewhere etc" And he walked off to a decent round of applause.
People don't turn up to have a go. In fact, most are quite supportive and to a degree tolerant. But not to any 'do you know who I am sh yte'.
Saw another well known act (at the time) doubling up and telling the room at pub gig (when it was not working). "I don't need audiences like you, I play Jongleurs and the Store regularly". To be met with "well fck off back there then......." he did, very quickly.
