Ridiculous membership scheme 10:45 - Jul 13 with 5471 viewsonceablue

As I didn’t have Gold card last season the away games I attended don’t count so no additional points for me other than the 5 for buying membership card

Although I only did 5 away games I would have had 10 points rather than 5

Feel sorry for my Boy he didn’t have a Gold card but did 10 away games and again none of these games count

The club could easily rectify this as they will have records of tickets purchased

COME ON ITFC SORT THIS OUT

I’ve had a text this morning from a friend who lives in Manchester and does the northern away games. They are elderly and can’t drive so uses local rail. This new membership is doing nothing for them and effectively now rules out any likelihood of ever getting a ticket to watch the Town again.

Would have thought the away games near Manchester will get to general sale like normal - I can't see us selling out away ends at Blackburn, Preston etc. unless we are absolutely flying.

Yep, there is a line that specifically states that points won't be backdated under any circumstances. It is what it is, I am in exactly the same situation as OP. Just using this year as a trial - if it is worth it great, more points next season. If not, then will drop it.

Honestly don’t think it’s going to be as bad as people think. There will be loads of games tickets still make s/t holders and then general sale.

I thought I read that once you buy the membership, they retrospectively add your away game points from last season regardless of gold membership etc.

I may be wrong and don't want to spread misinformation but maybe someone can shed some light.

Hence the reason we have always had gold cards!

We couldn’t even buy tickets to some of the away games as we weren’t able to get online at 10am some Mondays.

I will add they were only £20 so were worth buying in previous years.

Yes, maybe some people were going by sellouts last year at the smaller grounds in L1, and forgetting that now we're in the Champ & visiting places like Elland Rd & Sunderland, there's likely to be plenty of availability.

Even in the glory days of our 5th in the Prem season under Burley, I don't think travelling support to those games went much over 5,000. I tried to sell a ticket v MUFC at face value for a friend who was unable to go at the last minute - there was no take-up.

If said person buys a membership, it actually makes it more likely he can get away tickets this season. Previously, anyone only able to do Northern away games (and no homes) ranked behind all Gold Carders. Now, they can buy a membership & rank above regular season ticket holders.

Depends on your point of view really.

As a non season ticket holder ( also in Manchester), I love this new scheme. I do as many northern away games as I can, and at least this gives me a chance to up my priority by going to more games, whereas previously, even if I went to every away game, I was still going to be deprioritised by a season ticket holder who bought a gold card but hadn't been to any away games.

I also don't think that many northern games are going to sell out. The only ones I struggled with as a silver card holder last year, were Derby and Fleetwood.

I mean, they have a better chance than season ticket holders so hardly as disastrous as you're making out.

Surely if there is a priority order and a northern based fan can’t get to PR to clock up points so not much point in having a ST ( the issue of not being able to drive and elderly was my point re earlier post.getting to PR on a regular basis is almost cost prohibitive for a person on a fixed low income and having to use rail services etc)…

BUT will tickets for away games in northern clubs be that easy to come by with this new membership ? I found this on another site re the allocation of tickets to away fans… I’d think Town will easily take 2-3k to allow of away games this coming season . If the new membership means my friend is more likely to be able to get a ticket , then great. But it’s looks like to take a grandson and a partner along like they sued to do, they’ve now got to shell out £120? On a membership card for each , for the right to buy a ticket? If so, I don’t think this is particularly fair. Clearly you do.

It'll be a bigger problem next season won't it?

Only those who buy the new membership this year will have their away games from the coming season counted:

"Initially, points will be awarded historically, based on away games attended by members during the 2022/23 season. Going forward, points will only be awarded to active Super Blues members, with one point awarded for every away ticket purchased."

Would be interesting to know how many memberships they sell.

Forgive my ignorance, if you're a ST holder that rarely goes to away games, this membership is essentially a waste of time isn't it?

Pretty much, yes.

You'd get priority for home cup games if you wanted an extra ticket but that's it.

Personally I think most of the northern games will go to general sale although probably not a huge number of tickets so your friend might need to be quick. If we don't get off to fast start and end up mid-table then it will only get easier.

I'd certainly be very surprised if Blackburn and Preston don't reach that level and some of the other fixtures are likely to end up on Friday or Sunday evening which will reduce demand.

Poll: How many points do you think you'll need to get a ticket for Norwich?
