Question about that there London 12:33 - Dec 19 with 2957 viewsIllinoisblue

Anyone been to the Borough Market? Daughter saw a tik tok about it (specifically a market stall offering chocolate-dipped strawberries) and wants to visit. Worth a look?

We went in October, it was very busy but well worth a trip. Have a Google of "humble crumble" the queue for one was long but moved really quickly. There were a lot of cheese stands and some amazing fresh, exotic fruits

Worth a look but it’s always so bloody busy you can’t really move

And everything is overpriced of course.

Great place to go have a look around - some nice pubs too. Close to the river - good idea I'd say.

Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

As per Sitters, fantastic place, but by heck its always rammed.
The street food is amazing though to be fair.

…but for a tourist, such as yourself!, it’s worth a visit.

Plenty of decent places to eat as well.

You could also go for a drink on the river by the Golden Hind replica.

Nice spot, used to spend many a lunch break on the steps outside Southwark Cathedral. Borough Market is good for a mooch and some overpriced artisan food, can't vouch for the strawberries though. If that's your thing you might enjoy Greenwich market depending on where you're staying / travelling around.

If you want to complete the hat-trick, then Camden Market is also worth a visit. Tik Tok and Instagrammable street food venues at every turn.
I'm still trying to work off the K-Dog I had there last year!

It's 106 miles to Portman Road, we've got a full tank of gas, half a round of Port Salut, it's dark... and we're wearing blue tinted sunglasses.

If you go check out Lant Street wine near Borough Station. Great shop, knowledgeable staff and owned by a mate of mine. What's not to like!

Yes, as others have said it'll be busy but a lot of the food stools are fairly decent. A short walk from Tower Bridge, St Pauls and a few other of the obvious tourist sites.

Don't go in the Market Porter unless you want a long wait in far less space than one can turn around in.

It's expensive there and the views not that great, prefer the market porter or the rake myself

Aren't the food stools what generally happen AFTER eating at one of these markets?

Or just across the road, The George is quite an interesting historic 17th century coaching inn... although it is a Greene King pub, so may not have the absolute best range of beers.

There's bound to be some overpriced mulled wine to accompany it though.

As mentioned Humble Crumble, a sausage roll from the Ginger Pig and Whiskey Ginger is decent.

My fave butcher there is Northfield Farm, but Ginger Pig also excellent. Just opposite, off Stoney Street, is Neals Yard Dairy, with an astonishing range of cheeses & wonderful breads.
Best pub by far is the Rake, on Winchester Walk, at the back of the market; fabulous range of craft & cask ales, and pricey enough to keep riff-raff out.

Avoid Saturdays & lunchtimes and it is tolerably busy...

I'd go to BAO Borough for dinner, just outside the actual market. Amazing food.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

17th century coaching? Is Allardyce the landlord?

Chocolate dipped strawberries?

I bought my daughter some of those last wednesday here in Berlin at the Alexanderplatz Christmas Market.
6€ for three strawberries. Everytime she took a bite I was calcultaing how much it cost me...

Still it's Christmas and it made my daughter happy; in fact I even took some home for her sister and a chocolate covered banana for my son.

This has turned into quite a ramble hasn't it?
