Norwich away 08:40 - Mar 10 with 8090 views | onceablue | Am not looking forward to this game They have won 9 of their last 11 at home If they beat us which is a possibility could cement the probability of us meeting them in the play offs which I think could be a disaster. That music they play if they score would also send me over the edge The other dilemma I have is I have never seen us win in 11 visits starting with the Fa Cup game in 1983 My son is desperate to go but I have told him we probably need to stay at home and watch on TV THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WE CAN DO BEFORE NORWICH IS WIN THE NEXT 3

Norwich away on 09:06 - Mar 10 by onceablue | Because Norwich have no history they never talk about it They concentrate on the present and the last 14 years I guess we would do the same. But if they went up and we didn’t I woul emigrate to Outer Mongolia |
Sorry but that's nonsense. Over the last 40 years they have been the prominent club in East Anglia. We were miles better when the world was black and white. We have a chance to change that now.

They'll lose to the saints in the semi final, their deranged fans will then demand wagner to go and bring back lambert as he played for a top german team and kept zidane in his back pocket

....don't you? In fact looking at your history, it's predominantly either pro-Norwich stuff or anti-Ipswich stuff. I thought the days of fans pretending to support their rivals, purely so that they can slag them off "from the inside" were gone. Obviously not. You daft budgie. Mind the gap.

How can we change it when we don't have a single Premier League player? Frightened to go up by Scout38 16 Dec 2023 15:41How on earth didn't we win that?
Having said that, I never thought we were going to score in the 2nd half.
But let's forget about Norwich for a moment. I hate to say it but we don't have a single Premier League standard player.

Norwich away on 10:49 - Mar 10 by gainsboroughblue | We are both in form. It's just the context of our respective situations that makes us more nervous. They lost the other night but they can afford to lose one in three games because a defeat isn't as costly as one is for us due to the consistency required to maintain their position. I think the December game has hurt our confidence as fans. We really just needed to get this monkey off our back of not beaten them for so long. They are are biggest rivals but have also been kryptonite going back decades. Even in the 99-00 season, we took one point of them. Same in 98-99 when we finished well above them. And before that we usually traded home wins over the other, the same was generally the case under Magilton. Back in the 80's, they knocked us out of a cup competition 3 out of 4 seasons. |
When was the last season we took 6 points off them? Maybe 92/93?

They are a different proposition than December, Sargent is a top striker at this level and they’ve been formidable at home this calendar year. They’ll fancy it but a more open game might help us.

Norwich away on 11:15 - Mar 10 by Scout38 | How many games against the top 6 have we won? Is it one out of seven? We need to go up automatically |
Leicester D2 Southampton W1 Leeds L2 West Brom D1 L1 Norwich D1 Hull (joint 6th) W1 Coventry (1 point behind 6th) W1 So W2 D4 L3 isn't that bad, especially as if Hull hadn't lost to Norwich, that would then be W2 D3 L3 and 2 of those defeats were to Leeds who are second. The record against the current play-off places (not the top 2) is: W1 D2 L1. [Post edited 10 Mar 2024 16:55]

40 years ago today Ipswich had finished 2 points above Norwich in the top division. The end of the following season that was only 1 point as Norwich were RELEGATED (a very familiar feeling for them over the last 40 years - about 15 relegations in them). 23 years ago we were competing in Europe whilst Norwich were continuing to do nothing. If they had beaten Inter Milan they would still be holding an open top bus parade. It was simply another chapter in a rich European for Town. Less than 20 years ago, Norwich were losing 7-1 at home to COLCHESTER in the division below us. How you can possibly think they have been the prominent East Anglian club for 40 years is baffling. Even the most blinkered canary couldn't believe that! They have a decade of dominance and they know it is coming to an end. That has come thanks to repeated bouncing up and down into the Premier League where they were ALWAYS an embarrassment couple with a dreadful period of being run as a League 1 club under Evans.

First of all it is very clear that you are a Norwich fan on the wind up. 40 years, is probably in all reality 13 years. To go by your measures of average positions. 2000 / 2010 (10 seasons) Ipswich were higher than Norwich in 7 of the 10 seasons, with an average position of 26th, v an average Norwich position of 32nd. If you want to look at the 90's each club finished above the other 5 seasons out of the 10, with the average position for both clubs at 23rd, and this includes your best ever season of 3rd. If you want to include those 20 years as domination, you are deluded at best, but probably just on a wind up.

But you will probably find that if you add together all the goals they scored against us over the 40 years and put that against those we scored and they probably win 82-81 or something thanks to their "decade of dominance" which started in League 1 when they weren't playing us!

Appreciate you're a Norwich fan, so this is quite gracious of me, but I'm genuinely backing you to be intelligent enough to know that's moronic. You had the mid-80s to early-90s, we had the mid-90s to early-00s and you've had the 20 years since. Ignoring a decade of performances and employing an average instead is embarrassing. By your logic, we've been the prominent team for the whole period that we've played football.

We do have the better team, but an away derby with Norwich pushing for the play offs & keen to deny us automatic promotion is going to be a difficult game. However, the "history" of us failing to beat the Budgies for years shouldn't be the slightest problem to our players as most of them have played in onyl 1 East Anglian derby.

Going to be very difficult but the OP seems to be overly fretting when we shouldn't be. Lets see if they can handle the pressure of home fans expectation and pushing for play-offs.
