Massively disagree with that my vote won't count idea.
I the last local election Labour won by 16 votes in an area where the Tories always get in because they redrew the boundaries etc.
Even if your vote is "wasted" because of the dominance of one party, if everyone votes and reduces their majority it helps move the needle over time.
A colleague is refusing to vote because they're a socialist who thinks Starmer is a Tory etc. but they are an ardent campaigner for their local socialist group. If you opt out of the system yet constantly work to demand change that seems arse about face to me.
Oh I always vote and have done since I was 18 in national and local elections. A lot of people sacrificed to enable me to vote so I always do so. But I still see it as a depressing waste of time given a blue lump of cat litter would be voted in around here.

It's like walking into a music shop, past the collectable vinyls onto the dusty spot that no one goes to because the records are beaten up, scratched, and well past their sell by date.
You know the ones i mean, they keep getting stuck and repeating themselves over and over again.
Eventually they get discarded.
"Vinyls". Plural? Country has gone.

It started off as just a discussion between Badger and I. It only got ugly when footers saw fit to join a conversation that was nothing to do with him. Anyway, I'm out. Another mess poor Phil will shortly have to clean up.
There's a saying "An unused vote is a wasted vote" so i'm wasting mine as I have no faith in any of the Party's. Voting for anyone other than the main two is also wasting a vote as they won't get in. Some will say "Well what about your local MP" What about him/her ? Don't even know who they are. As a kid I grew up in a small village, we are talking 1950's-1960's. I knew who our local MP was then. A Sir Harwood Harrison (Tory) Whilst I am in no way saying their job is easy and with the things that have happened to some MP's it is now a dangerous job. The problem to me is politics and policies don't address the problems at hand and yet they are aware of them and proclaim that all these problems will be sorted if you vote for them. Yet the Tories have had fourteen years and the Country has gone backwards. We were told leaving the EU would make us better off, but we are not. You cannot say for definite we would have been better off staying in the EU as Europe has had the same problems as us, mass immigration, Covid, the effects or the War in the Ukraine etc. If Labour do come to power don't expect a quick turn around. Maybe the cake will be sliced in different ways, but the cake will still be the same size and as Rachel Reeves (Shadow Chancellor) says she won't play fast and loose with the money and seeing as the Country is in a huge hole with debts totally more than the Country's income we ain't gonna be better off anytime soon.

Democracy is as much a responsibility as it is a right. Being this ill-informed is terrible for any functioning democracy. Indeed, people have died for your right to vote so you should cherish it.

I got a mail shot from the Greens. Apparently they're huge in Bristol Central and likely to win according to the tactical voting site.

And then Zapers jumped in, creating what you have gone on to deem a 'pile on'. I see you didn't call Zapers out though, probably because you agree with him. I don't have an issue with two people having a gentle pop at Badger or indeed a gentle rib of Zapers for misspelling advice in a post implying someone else wasn't very intelligent. I have more of an issue with rank hypocrisy, which isn't just about the double standards when it comes to pile ons but also about a particular group of posters feeling that their constant sniping at others and attempts at division aren't problematic whilst seeing themselves as arbiters of how some others post. I'll leave it there, hope you have a good new contract day.

It’s the forum equivalent of protecting statues. No one asks them to do it, but they’ve convinced themselves it’s a necessary and important service.

Financially Not.
However, public services could take a swing for the better which would have the effect of making as "richer" and "healthier" meanwhile setting the foundations for a better future for future generations.
