Of the current squad 12:09 - May 30 with 4331 views | Garv | Who do you think is going to make the biggest impression in the Premier League next season? Obviously we've got an idea of who we think was ready to step up whether we were prompted already (Leif and maybe a couple more), but who can you see surprising us? Personally I think Burns is going to be huge for us. I remember people saying he would be slowly phased out following promotion to the Championship which looking back seems crazy. Two assists and a goal in the last three games of the season after a two month injury, he was so important for that run in.

I agree. Chaplin had a strange season where his numbers were good but he often wasn't influencing games like he did in League 1. Broadhead's high risk, high reward style of play was too good for League 1 and largely effective in the Championship but I think another level up he may find he is dispossessed more and beats fewer men. Hopefully I'm wrong of course but see your logic.

Please explain your thinking on taylor. As a 10? After a season of mckenna's coaching he's still too defensively clueless to be one of our midfield two.

Chappers ball retention was a frustrating watch at times last season, but this is the way we play. He often gave it away trying flicks or clever passes, but then on the flip side he works well in our system with his link up with Burns. And the Chaplin first time ball over the top for Burns is a thing of beauty. Either way they will at the very least be competent squad players.

If McKenna didn't want him to be trying his flicks and clever passes then I don't think he'd be doing it. It's a risk/reward thing and he's had a number of goal involvements from doing so.

I think it is the athleticism and physicality that Broady will struggle with - not the technical side of the game. He struggles to influence games after 45 minutes or so, think he may end up as a regular sub

Taylor is an interesting shout. What position are you thinking? I know he sometimes played a more advanced role than he had for us. I think Burgess will shine in the PL much more than everyone expects, and possibly Tuanzebe too. I’m pretty sure Tuanzebe will end up as a centre back for us, and I think we may well not buy another one, sticking with Burgess, Woolf, Axel and Fridge.
Of the current squad on 13:06 - May 30 with 2848 views | TresBonne | I think Cameron Burgess is going to make a real statement this season as to how good he actually is. For me he's by far our best CB and I can see him moulding into a mid-table Premier League CB - which probably would be his peak.

Hirst and, just to stimulate a bit of debate, Broadhead. Watching some of the highlights, Broadhead is an unusual player. You won’t notice him in a game, but then he will do something extraordinary. He scored all sorts of goals last season and has the ability to make things happen. He’s a really good player, in my view.

He is an incredibly gifted footballer, he just does not have the level of physicality to be a good prem player imo.

Of the current squad on 13:34 - May 30 with 2472 views | Nthsuffolkblue | Jackson will be the biggest surprise to many (although that will ony involve him being a squad player who is effective in some matches when we need him). I don't think Burns stepping up will be a surprise at all. Broadhead, Woolfenden and Chaplin might surprise some. I am interested to see whether Hladky remains first choice and how he does if so. He could be next season's Burgess.

Agree with others on 13:40 - May 30 with 2376 views | Dyland | Burns hasn't reached his ceiling and I have a feeling will improve yet. Hirst as well, def info. Both these guys came back in and looked immense. It was quite extraordinary. Also think Wolf will be alright. And Leif of course. Hladky won't make many more howlers than some of last season's EPL goalies. Broadhead has bags of technique and talent, and I always thought impacted enough games especially late on to be worth a go. Hell, let's throw in Morsy too. He ain't THAT slow ffs. Reads the game beautifully. Oh, Burgess and Clarke as well. Ah, and Luongo :) [Post edited 30 May 13:47]

Can you imagine how that statement would have been received two/ three years ago!? I agree though. Not only is he brilliant in the air, and positionally sound, he's also got a very decent pass on him.

We all had this conversation last year and i remember a few people picking edmundson as the one that would flourish in the championship. He ended up doing well when he got his chance but woolfie remained ahead in the pecking order. And why wouldn't he? He waa crucial to the plan of playing out. Same here - chaplin is crucial to the plan because he's the finisher. And as someone pointed out, he actually got a lot of assists last year. Unless the plan changes, and i'm not saying it won't, i can't see taylor displacing chappers.
