Not holding out much hope of Sunak wanting to debate properly. Assuming it'll be 60mins of him whining 'but Corbyn', no?

Agreed on both fronts.

I was also irritated at his response re. not using private healthcare for a loved one. I just don't buy it. He looked so shifty after saying 'no' too. He just said it to look like a man of the people.

If I'm honest, I'm not impressed with either. Growing feeling of being politically homeless.

We’d all use private healthcare personally or for family if we could, should’ve just said yes.

Kier Starmer is going to be PM and I’m glad the Tories are going to get an absolute kicking, but Starmer is truly awful

Precisely. Just be honest. I'd have respected him more for saying yes.

I'm behind the rest of you but I thought Starmer was very evasive with regards to ending the junior doctors strike. Answer the question FFS.

Sunak is very aggressive which may grate as time goes on but as a natural Tory voter switching to Labour, I'm not impressed with Starmer under pressure so far.

He didn’t have chance to answer - Sunak cut across him three times. He eventually managed to say he’d negotiate and then she cut him off. Then I gave up. Were not going to find out anything useful from this unfortunately.

"Thats 45 seconds. We're going to try to stick to the rules Keir Starmer"

Having allowed Sunak to do the same repeatedly without challenge.

I am not sure whether it is bias arising from their respective positions, the rudeness with which Sunak is conducting things, or some underlying subconscious bias. Its really not good though.

Maybe the red specs again, but I feel that Sunak is being given far too much leeway to spout his 'Labour will cost you more' schtick, despite Starmer having refuted it on multiple occasions.

What a waste of time that was. Politicians typically blabbering on about how great they will be and how bad the others are, and not answering any of the questions actually asked.

God help the UK, whoever is in charge!!

Sunak cut across him three times because three times he refused to answer and wanted to talk about what the current government was doing.

Watching this as a neutral and seeing the tribal replies on here is quite funny. Nothing Sunak can say or do would change my votes but I am uninspired by Starmer. He won't say what he will do. Just wants to fight on the Tories record. Which in fairness is safe ground. It's his election to lose.

I don’t think it’s a question you can reasonably answer unless you have been negotiating with the doctors, Sunak knows that and is just point scoring.

What these debates desperately need are slightly less passive audience participants. Tonight was dying out for someone to tell the leaders to answer their question, or just heckle some of their absolute guff.

If labour lose this election, it’ll be on par with Leeds collapse this season.. starmer could’ve not bothered turning up, and it wouldn’t have made a difference

what they need is 2 minutes for an answer, microphones switched off when it's not their turn, and a chair who challenges repetition and pointless smears. with tonights format it was completely pointless

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

Sunak more interested in kicking the boot in on Labours apparent ‘no plan’ ‘£2000 tax’ rather than telling us what the Tories will actually do. Little sound bites that he hopes will be picked sup by some…but no one trusts him so not going to work.

The problem is that the parties hold too much sway over these things.

I can't imagine that Sunak (and perhaps Starmer as well) would have agreed to having the ability removed to interrupt his opponent.

If they won't agree to the broadcasters' terms, there's no debate. Either have them properly, with the setup properly and independently enshrined somewhere, or not at all.
