I have a few things similar. I have an original pong game, the Atari VCS system a Spectrum and a ZX81. Can I refute something that was said earlier that said ZX91 powers this site. Not true.

I have about 30 watches. Many don’t work (I keep meaning to get them going - I even bought a book!). The working ones — I do wear most of them. The most valuable is a Rolex, the most interesting a Bulova Accutron electric tuning fork watch that I’d love to get going. Others include Seikos, Citizens, Longines, Omega, Rotary, Lanco and various others, My fave though is a Rado Golden Horse sunburst dial watch I bought myself when I retired.
I don’t really collect them, but I have a lot of books (too many). Bit daft really as I mostly use Libby and Kindle. |  | | |

Whisky, every time I go through an airport duty free I buy a bottle of Macallans ten or twelve year and then question why I spent seventy quid on it. I get home and look on the internet and find I couldn't buy it for less than a hundred and sixty in the United Kingdom. I was told recently that I should turn each bottle upside down and then upright again once a year. Also, never store whisky bottles on their side, something to do with the angels getting more than their fair share. |  |

Use to collect vinyl, but have gradually got rid of most, just got a few punk stuff now. Now I'm getting old (pushing 60)I look at all my stuff and think 'what am I keeping all this sh!t for' so am trying to get rid of anything I don't really need. |  |

I have a few Super Nintendo and Nintendo 64 items (1980s-2000s) that are still sealed. When I was young if I REALLY liked something I would save up and get a second for back up (autism trait apparently). One of the titles, Mario 64, reached $1.5m sealed with a condition score of 9.8 (mint). Mine isn't in terrible condition by no means, I am sort of scared to have it graded but plan on doing so soon.
EDIT:
What makes it collectable? I think in some cases they mark a new era. 8bit to 16bit, to 32bit to 64bit consoles also marked a time when we were going into the digital era. So, these things do appear in museums from time to time [Post edited 20 Jul 2024 12:09]

Yes, spot on. Fluctuations in values. For instance I bought a rarity level 2 Coffin Vase for £115 last year. Now is worth £200 ish. No doubt in 6 months time it will be £100. Moorcroft has fallen horrifically. People have finally realised that you can buy it anywhere. Extremely common. Chinese silver frames can set you back £1000 retail. I bought a Hang Wing Frame for £200 off eBay. So, they can be bought/overlooked. |  | | |

When my collecting got out of hand I started flogging spares and now, after a bit of a breakdown following redundancy a while ago, I'm actually doing it for a living on Etsy. Wish I'd done it years ago; it's a great way to live!

Not really. I would like to collect and display something consistent from ancient empires. If money were no object, I'd collect coins (😂). I also don't know enough about them to guarantee I'd be getting something authentic. |  |

Probably my favourite thing. 110 year old Princess Mary tin with the original tobacco and cigarettes. Every soldier was given one of these. The tins are common but the contents rare.
