2 California politicians on the same ticket would be political suicide.
As you say it will be a swing state politician. A good VP is crucial. JD Vance is weak, it was a bad pick. He does nothing for Trump. He will be made to look very silly in the debates.
Especially if you put JD up against someone like Beshear who has extensive knowledge of Appalachia would be a great match up for the Dems. Or even a Josh Shapiro.
Trump made a pigs ear of his VP pick.

Get Roy Cooper in, and then Harris needs to make a massive play of the abortion issue because Vance’s views need to be shared widely - plus the 15 million immigrants Trump is apparently going to deport.

If Harris can land blows it’s far from over
Yep Cooper is also a great pick. Ticks loads of boxes. A good and trusted friend of Harris, popular in a red state which is a big target for the Dems, they nearly won NC last time as well. And he has credibility on progressive issues as well. I like it a lot. Him or Beshear I think are the best options.
It's hard to say from across the pond but it feels to me like there is a bit of momentum for her which Is perhaps to be expected running against someone so detestable. The dems just need to back her and get to work. I think she can do it.

Think you are expecting more than she is capable of cause she will get eaten alive.
If they were able to replace her then they would in a heartbeat but its nots like here and only the electorate can vote in a president.
If they stray from that and promote their own candidate in above Harris then who knows what the fallout would be.
I can understand that as a view of her at the starting point of Biden standing down, but nothing is static, is it. She'll be more experienced, better advised and better organised than she was in her early days as VP, and she's made a decent and confident start in the last couple of days. The very fact that Tr*mp seems rather rattled (and wants the money he's spent on campaigning against Biden back, lol) is direct evidence of that.
She has seemed a bit unsure and lacking in confidence in the past, but I suspect that will grow in her as she starts puncturing the plastic veneer of the idiot she's up against, and if he dares to stand against her in direct debate once she's found her feet, as BDS says, she'll rip him to pieces then.

We will see I guess but stand by my original point.
If Democrats want to win then she is not the person to take them forward.
She has already dropped 4 points before she even publicly spoke.

That's a great speech, and I appreciate it was given to campaign workers so is focused on what they need to hear, but can she reach out and connect with the undecided and the more rational of those likely to vote Republican ?
Whilst I agree that actions speak louder than words, that was a very smart speech from KH there. She's well in the race. This will get Trump sweating and how will he go after her? She's dived straight into the middle ground. Something Trump can never do. As I said. Smart.
Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

The American dream stuff at the end is still the land of make believe which many of Trump's base know and is what the populists feed off but on the personal attributes she has him nailed. Furthermore enough people still want to believe the fairytale to see her win imho.

The thing is that this sort of thing, and their internet feeds, cut through to people in this country. Indeed, my neighbours have consistently said the last election was rigged, and said the same to me when they just got back from the States having spoken to people there.

70% of Americans have said that immigration is their number one concern.
Kamala was in charge of the border for the last 3 and a bit years, it was her remit.
She is the wrong person if the Democrats want to win and she is polling worse than Biden in every swing state.
She will be pushed aside 100%.

Imagine people wanting to form different opinions eh? Down with this sort of thing.

"70% of Americans have said that immigration is their number one concern." If true that's completely insane. Do they not teach the history of their own country over there?

Mail & Telegraph have US editions
Have friends on both sides of the political divide. Think the winner will be one who gets their support to vote. Biden was a handicap for Democrats and their prospects have improved with him standing aside.
Important they perform well in elections for Senate & the house.
Different opinions!! Nonsense untrue propaganda Mussolini would have loved such equivalence
i am not saying their opinions are correct. I am just defending their right to have them. Same as people believe the earth is flat or the moon landings were faked. I think we go down a dangerous path when we try to censor people's beliefs.

It's more dangerous when people believe things which are untrue, such as the election was rigged, Covid was a conspiracy, vaccines cause autism etc. There's a difference between opinion and fact.

She seems much better than I expected based on the mixture of genuine criticism and propaganda being thrown against her. I've no idea if she can reach out to those she needs to convince, but she's coming across better than Biden for me. 'I prosecuted criminals like Trump' would be a killer message in a normally functioning country.

I believe Trump has a long record of "stiffing" his contractors on many of his construction projects, invoices disputed on spurious grounds, bills not paid, putting his shell companies into bankruptcy to avoid his financial liabilities etc etc
I think if all these shenanigans were brought out into the sunlight and regularly given publicity then maybe "Ordinary Hard - Working Americans" would see him as the parasite that he is, rather than their protector and saviour
There is so much wrong with the Big Orange baboon.....maybe Harris is the one to show him up for what he truly is

Same for me. Based on little more than reading a few bits, a few days ago I was thinking they need someone else. But I'm liking her quite laid back style and the big intellectual advantage she possesses over orange-man.
I'm really pleased she's started on quite an aggressive, personal front against him because, whilst I believe that politics should be about policy first, I think the situation here demands a bit of both. I also expect her confidence to significantly grow as she goes, and I think she'll overpower him in the end.
We might just see the reverse of the Clinton-v-Trump tussle, with Trump losing momentum and being left for dead in the water in the wake of a dynamic Kamala campaign energising younger voters.

And you will note my post to which you responded did not criticise people for having opinions.

I am in a couple of groups on facebook (just for the laughs mainly) that believe the earth is flat. You just cannot convince these people otherwise. No matter what scientific proof you put in front of them, they won't have it. It's exasperating to even try to get them to understand.
