Cajuste 09:35 - Aug 20 with 3976 views | tractorboy1978 | Any one else got a feeling he may turn out to be absolutely brilliant for us? I really like the cut of his jib - looks to have all the physical and technical qualities to be a solid PL midfielder. Significant international experience with a good side. Earned a move to Napoli 12 months ago, who had just won Serie A in the previous season. Played in a successful side managed by Will Still that played football with very similar principles to us. Has been picked up twice by Matthew Benham data driven football clubs that rarely get anything wrong (Midtylland and then again by Brentford - who presumably know he is a great character too). And when you consider how careful we've been this summer with recruiting from abroad, we must be really sure too. So much to like. And probably going under the radar a bit as we signed Kalvin Phillips a few days ago.
Cajuste on 09:40 - Aug 20 with 3890 views | portmanking | Yup, I was excited about him from the first minute of being linked. He ticks an awful lot of boxes for us in that left pivot role. I was even more encouraged after hearing his interview last night. He'll have absolutely zero problems acclimatising with our squad. Throw him in against City alongside Morsy IMO.
Cajuste on 09:46 - Aug 20 with 3810 views | SomethingBlue | Yes, spoken to a few people about this guy over the last week and hearing very good things. I think there are still a few rough edges to him and he will of course have to adapt to our pretty tightly-wound demands. But he's every inch a Premier League player and it's going to be so important that we have an outstanding set of options in that midfield area. If on Saturday we could have made some really impactful changes at 55 minutes to get the intensity back up then maybe we could have seen it out.

having only watched the videos 'rough diamond' feels right. always interesting to see where the clips stop. but the good bits seem very good.

That's not normally the KM way. Usually likes new players to have had a few training sessions etc. and time to properly bed in. We'll see though.

He is extremely good. Will bring a different energy to our midfield for sure. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Cajuste on 11:21 - Aug 20 with 3066 views | StockholmBlue | My view on Cajuste is that this is extremely interesting and can be the best business of the summer (excluding keeping McKenna obviously). I think he posses a lot of good attributes, works really hard for the team, wins duels, tackles, closing down and reduces angles and space for the opposition, and have a decent technical ability himself. What I have found after watching him quite a bit for the Swedish National Tem as well as for Napoli (he went under the radar for me in Midtjylland and Örgryte and didn´t see him in Reims) is that while doing all his good work he does some "simple" mistakes, maybe that he switches off when doing a simple pass 10 m, or maybe just nervousness. I think Mckenna is the ultimate coach/leader to work with him, to give him structure and tools to become the player he can be. He really can be a monster in the middle of the park. And from the little I have seen in interviews and articles about him, he comes across very well and is very likeable. Looking forward to see his progress for us and for the swedish national team!!

I doubt he'll start but will come on for Mas when he runs out steam.,

Where will he play? How do we fit him, Phillips and Morsy into midfield? Surely they will be here to play ? go 3 in the middle ?

Think we may well end up with rotating our midfield options more often in games than we have done before. Could well see both starting CMs being subbed in some games. That will obviously reduce our ability to rotate our forward options but think it may be necessary.

I also wonder whether we'll sacrifice the AM 10 for an 8 in certain games where we know we'll not see as much of the ball. 4 very attacking players has served us well since KM took over, but I think it would be pretty brave to carry on with that for all games in the PL.

I know it's not their forte, but wonder if we'll see any of them operating in a bit more of a box-to-box role if we were to use three of them? Almost more of a 4-2-1-2-1, with say Cajuste in a single pivot in front of the two DMs (although would likely see significant rotation between the three of them)... Purely guesswork, and thank god I'm not a manager!

With 5 subs there's plenty of scope to rotate the midfield as well as the forwards, as long as that's not too much change and too disruptive (but McKenna will have them all well drilled in their roles).

“can be a monster in the middle of the park“ Love that! Yep, also had a very good feeling from what I read about him pre-signing that he could be immense for us, a midfield fortress. We might have got a point on Saturday if he’d come on early in the second half I think.

Yeah, I thought this might be the major change from last season, or moving to a “proper” back 3 (so change to 433 or 343, at the risk of going all Championship Manager). So you’d get something like the same back 4 and a 3 in midfield of Morsy, Cajuste and Phillips. Hutchinson right and Szmodics left, Delap upfront. But then we played exactly the same 4231 as last season on Sat when I thought Johnson might start and Tuanzebe move inside. Maybe the tried and trusted will stay the default shape and we’ll just see a lot of rotation/subs.
