I'm still confused about how I'm going to watch the game on Saturday 10:37 - Aug 22 with 22371 viewsThe_Flashing_Smile

on TV. I have a VPN. Don't have a subscription to any streaming services (that have football). What's an easy, straightforward option that's definitely going to work, and cheap as poss? I was quite happy paying a tenner for Town TV but now it seems all such a faff. All I want to do is watch my team!

Maybe Phil or someone can write a proper article explaining the options, I can't be the only one confused.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

I find that too risky for me. They could block that IP and you'd be stuck. I'd much prefer a monthly contract.

They have monthly options too but more expensive - I think NordVPN gives me a unique IP address on each login anyway so don’t expect it to be an issue but will keep you posted.

Just go on to fawanews and click on the link to Man City vs. Ipswich?

Oh. I’ll check, but basically had to add the full sports coverage to what I already had, which was a leftover from last season’s special offer.

Didn’t realise they’re covering the Man City game!

My fire stick does nothing of the sort. Like superblue95, I had to pay £30 as a one off to TNT last w/e (a month pass without anything else I want to watch).

This guide might help a bit -

https://www.uswitch.com/tv/guides/how-can-i-watch-bt-sport/

(that link doesn’t quite nail it as I’m on my phone, you have to scroll down a bit and click on “How to watch the Premier League on TV”).

I think you use your firestick to install IPTV..... then you pay an annual subscription of somewhere around £40 - £70

And the World is your lobster.... one can watch the regional news in Albania and other such delights

So a friend tells me

Yeah, if Gav & The Geeks (good name for a band eh) on here say it’s well dodgy, then I’m staying clear tbh!

Don’t be confused - use a modicum of common sense. It is extremely easy to watch any televised sports event for absolutely nothing.

It’s not exactly legal but nobody with a functioning brain cell pays for subscriptions to televised sports channels. Google is your friend….. and SS is your clue

To be fair, if you went down the monthly route for 9 months (length of PL season), it only works out £29 more expensive over the season. Agree with Gav, safer option re. VPNs.

It’s being shown on Premier Sports 1 which comes under the same NowTv subscription as TNT Sports.

If you paid for the Liverpool game you’ll be able to watch this one too

If you pay for a US based sports sub and then use a VPN to watch it here, I'm not sure what law you are breaking.

The fact you're having to use a VPN to pretend you're in a different country should tell you that you're breaking some kind of UK law.

Specifically the 3pm blackout rule . It is bloody ridiculous in this day and age to be fair. It was introduced in the 1960s to prevent televised games impacting on attendances. But I don't see how it could be justified any longer.

Yeah, I didn't say I wasn't, just that it wasn't clear which law was being broken.

VPNs themselves are perfectly legal, of course.

Said last sason - the 3pm Sat rule resulting in those outside the RS signal area still not being able to listen online despite the ground being sold out, & despite having paid their BBC licence fee, is ridiculous & outrageous

It's a UEFA law (Article 48). Though technically not a UK law as such, by watching content you're not entitled to watch in your region, you could be prosecuted in the UK under piracy laws.

The answer is you are not breaking any law whatsoever by watching a stream. There's a reason why no one has ever been prosecuted for it.

Those who provide streams will likely be on dubious ground as will say a pub showing a stream.

But unless anyone can point to a law that says you can't watch a dodgy stream, them you aren't breaking a law by watching one.

Simples.

It is breaking the law, in the same way as watching a pirated DVD or downloading a dodgy torrent is technically breaking the law. Nobody ever gets prosecuted for it as you say, but to say you aren't breaking any laws is wrong.

Using a VPN is legal in the UK (and Canada).

Streaming 3pm games is legal in Canada, and it's illegal for people to broadcast at 3pm in the UK (but not illegal to watch them).

I think the only thing that would be broken would potentially be the terms of service of whatever streaming platform one uses, but it definitely isn't illegal either here or there.
