Striker target if Broja falls through? on 11:25 - Aug 24 by hunty21
Bit of a downgrade and are they able to do the job from a physical aspect
They may be a downgrade from Broja’s best but when did he last manage to reach that? At least these players are all playing and in form. We seemed to be looking at Ioannidis before Broja so just think he can do a job.
The issue is financial - if we were looking to bring in someone outright then it’d have a greater impact this season than the obligation to buy with Broja.
Earlier in the window, Ioannidis had his heart set on a move to Sporting, but they don't appear to have increased their initial bid. It was reported that we made a bid of close to 30MEuros, which was accepted by Panathinaikos but the player was holding out for Sporting. Maybe he didn't want to move to what he perceived would be a club battling relegation. With the business we have done since, and the calibre of players we have brought in, it should be pretty clear that the owners are very committed to ensuring we become a stable Premier League club. Maybe worth going back IF the Broja deal is in jeopardy. That said, if Broja is fit, would be pretty chuffed with that.

Do we have 25m to spend on Ioannidis? I'm very doubtful.
That’s my doubt, with the Clarke deal nearing completion. If we need to spend more outlay on a striker, it may affect the O’Shea deal too.
With Ioannidis, he has a proven record in European competition too. If we somehow get him over the line I’ll be amazed. I personally suspect we’ll dip into the Championship again.

This. I suspect the Broja deal suited as little money (comparatively) committed now and the majority only if we stay up and get loads more money. Paying for Ioannidis now could be a challenge with the money spent on Clarke and possibly O'Shea as suspect they were on the basis we were getting Broja as the #9
The sort of positive is this gives us another domestic loan spot to maybe get cover late on in the window.

Fotis seems too expensive and uninterested but he scored a nice goal yesterday (from 3 mins).
It seems clear that’s who KM really wanted. If something could still be done I’d be delighted with that. Otherwise, I’m not too bother by the speculation. What will be will be.

I'd choose Latte Lathe.
I'd be happy with him or Hadji Wright. A couple of seasons ago we were looking at Evan Ferguson coming in on loan and I wouldn't be at all surprised if we have identified somebody that none of us would anticipate.

Hadji Wright plays wide at Coventry no chance. Ferguson injuries so No we want a fit player at least when they arrive.
