I thought we sounded good all match 17:40 - Sep 21 with 6247 views | thebooks | Bit disappointing to see a few grumbles on here. We have by far the cheapest squad and the lowest wage bill in this league. We’ve played Manchester City and Liverpool, a good Fulham team at home and an excellent Brighton away, along with one of our fellow promoted teams away. Getting 3 points from that is absolutely brilliant. We kept going and, yet again, got an injury time goal. We’ll get a win and start flying. And Sam Morsy? Fuuucking legend.
I thought we sounded good all match on 17:45 - Sep 21 with 4473 views | DavoIPB | We were awful. Outplayed and out thought most of the match. We got lucky with a deflected long shot. Almost everybody had an off day. Southampton look a lot more likely to survive this league than us.
I thought we sounded good all match on 17:48 - Sep 21 with 4445 views | badadski | We might have sounded ok but watching it was painful - too many mis controls, missed passes, passing behind the player rather than in front slowing down a chance of break. Poor finishing, no creation from 9 corners. It will come but I still think we don’t look balanced like last season - omari doesn’t look good as a 10 where he doesn’t have room to run at players and is starting with his back to goal and szmodics is wasted on the left wing. He scores 30 goals from a central forward to a 10 position and suddenly we buy him and play him where he was least effective over 2 seasons which seems a bit criminal especially when we have the left wing player of the season that can naturally play there. Just what I can see but balance is off . Morsey is immense still and turning and driving into space and passed players is still a thing to behold. O’Shea was rubbish although he’s still new to the team so will give him the benefit of the doubt. Apart from not clearing and trying to nutmeg the player that gave them the goal from Tuanzabe, he was really good.

Why do we, who you say had an "off day", look a lot less likely to survive than Southampton, who have achieved 1 point from 15?

I agree in that I don't think we've got the balance of the front four right. I'd like us to try Burns - Szmodics - Clarke Delap Szmodics is lost on the left and, as you say, other than a good performance against Fulham, Hutchinson doesn't make the most of the number ten position - at least, not from the start. Yeah, I think Omari’s better on the right, but you can’t drop him or Burns… stuff to work out… I don’t think it’s surprising we’re still trying to find a balance as basically half the team is new, but we will. Zooming out, 3 points (or, to put it another way, just 2 defeats) from that run of games from a team that was in L1 2 years ago is very, very good. Tuanzebe was an inspired signing. An elite level defender for nothing. Getting an equaliser in the 95th minute — I just think it’ll get that relentless, never say die thing going again. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Don’t think we burgled a point - we were not good but soton were lucky by a few misplaced passes not going to us by a matter of cm - szmodics should have scored his header from 6 yards / literally took his eye off the ball and shouldered it to the keeper / then his shot into the side netting / he’s getting into good positions at least. The corners should have come to more from the height we have - still getting our team to play with the fluidity and knowing where each of your team mates is will take a while but we certainly have the foundation and players who can and will improve and the best manager go get it out of them

That shot into the side netting was less than a half chance. Agree our corners weren't good. We didn't create much at all. It's a great point but I feel very lucky.

As I said elsewhere, I think the issue is who we played today. Had it been an established Premier League side (maybe Everton aside) the criticism would be muted. A better performance was expected considering we were facing Southampton.

Our attacking players need to build more understanding but our defence is looking strong which gives us a good base. We deserved at least a point today, we bossed that first half and should have been 2-0 up at half time. Second half was more even but over 90 we edged it

Anyone can be dropped / rested / rotated - call it what you want. That’s the point of a big squad. Up front, we have more than 2 players for each position: they’ll all be fighting to play.
I thought we sounded good all match on 21:41 - Sep 21 with 3639 views | Coastalblue | Crikey some real opposites of opinion today. I think the reality was somewhere in the middle. My first game of the season today, though I've watched all the others on TV. We were some way off our best, that's not to be denied and there is certainly some stuff for KM to work on, tinker with, some learning and adjusting still for some squad members. It could have gone either way, a draw I don't think is an unfair result in the end though I hoped for more. We were a little sloppy at times today and the passing was at times just shy of where it needs to be, not by miles but fine margins at these levels. I think we'll survive, I don't think we'll motor up the table as we gel, but neither do I think we'll be sucked too deep into the bottom three. Survive this season, when we're already way ahead of schedule, then we start complementing what we have with real quality.

I thought we sounded good all match on 23:35 - Sep 21 with 3415 views | ITFCSG | 1. We didn't play well at all. At times we dominated possession, but how many clear saves did their keeper has to make? 2? 2. We did the double over Saints last season so most people would have higher expectations that we would beat them again today for the first win of the season

When we played Southampton last season, they were a parachute team, having been in the PL years. We last played them about 11 games ago at PR. I was at the game and watched it back. We were actually given the runaround for a good chunk of it, particularly first half. They had 64% possession, more shots, more on target. But we won. I’ll be interested to see how we looked by comparison today. There is no issue about who we played plus we were away. MM was right. An away point is never a bad thing. We got a draw from what the stats say was an even game, even if many on here thought we were rubbish. Last season we drew away at the three relegated sides. Because we had wins in the board, grief was muted. That’s the difference for me. Had we chalked up a win in the previous two, my guess is the significant number with the mood of hand wringing despair would be significantly less. The PL is tough. The gap far greater than I thought it would be. We may not survive. But my view is we might and regardless, they’re giving it a good go and still settling down collectively and as individuals. That’s enough for the moment. I’ve seen ITFC teams throw in the towel and if they do, my size nines will go in. But not before. Keep going and enjoy the ride is what I’m trying to do.

They're not the Dog and Duck but they're one of the weakest teams in the division. I'm sure even their fans would admit they're not on the same level as the teams we've played already. Considering how well we did against Fulham, in particular, and Brighton, to an extent, I can appreciate why people were hoping to build on those performances. Especially as Southampton have had a torrid start to the season.

Burns isn't good enough for premier league I'm afraid. Love the bloke but is put of his depth. We need to put sentiment aside if we want to survive. Now Davis is up against quality full backs and wingers he is no longer affective as he was so we need to find other ways oof creating chances because at the minute we are creating nnothing
