TBF there are some real issues for journalism on Twitter. One major concern is that tweets with links are far less amplified in recent months. Reason being that Twitter wants you to consume all your information on it's site, not for you to go read other pages and pay them ad revenue instead.
An alternative view is that Bluesky is currently receiving a surge on new users from the UK and US who (based on my interactions) are more left leaning and liberal. Moving is quite possibly a case of following your market. [Post edited 13 Nov 2024 14:45]

Haven't read the link so apologies if I'm repeating stuff, but in principle, it would be very hard for them to continue criticising Musk or by association Trump, while using Musk's product. Maybe they also hope to start something? Twitter seems to have an outsized voice.... |  |

I'm not on it, but the Mrs showed me her feed the other day. Christ alive it was frightening. It was dominated by Musk's vile stuff, yet she's obviously never engaged with him or any of his tweets. It' looks like Musk's personal propaganda site now. It's as shame, as although I've never been a fan I could see that once had some uses. |  |

Why is that a flounce?
They fundamentally disagree with the principles of the owner and are concerned by the lack of content controls - I think it would be far more hypocritical to have that stance and yet continue to use the platform. |  | | |

I've noticed a significant increase in activity and followers on bluesky this week. Feels like a major exodus from twitter is underway.
Musk won't care now though, he has his influence on the levers of power, which I suspect was the aim all along. |  |

I have to admit I have never understood why people are proud to shat on publications when the simple truth is that one disagrees with the points of view within their bias. Whilst the Mirror and Daily Mail hyperbolise a lot, the other publications do seem to consider their points of view somewhere.

I 'flounced' off X (the artist formally known as Twitter), after the Musk takeover.
When it became clear that Twitter (or X) was the place to be if you were into right leaning politics, ridiculous conspiracy posts, had 'very real concerns', enjoyed the 'philosophy' of Joey Barton or the 'journalism' or Tommy Three Names.

It really is - have lost about 100 followers & who I followed back, in the past two months.
Problem is that the more good accounts leave, the fewer challenges the bad ones face, & the more likely they are to become the majority instead of the minority that got pushed back pre-Musk.
Another problem is that some of the alternatives are also run by abhorrent giants, & I wouldn't want to go there. [Post edited 13 Nov 2024 15:39]
