Anyone know when TWTD first appeared online ? I’m sure I remember checking it out sometime around 1997 or am I misremembering?

Pretty sure I was regularly online there by 1999, are any posters still using their user name from the first ever sign up ?

I’m sure Phil or Gav can fill in the gaps ?

The only Muff in Town.

I never thought TWTD would become such a life staple so didn't really make any record of when I started posting, but am impressed that so may of you did. I know I was posting in 2002 because of where I lived at the time, and initially used Reading Blue, but someone else also used an almost identical username, so I then changed it to RB_ITFC, then changed it to Brogansconk - and within a month or two someone else created a username of Brogansnose, so that had to be changed as well. In the end, around 2014, I changed it to LegendofthePhoenix as no other silly sod would choose that as a username, and it was what I use in gaming - its the opening line of "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk, and that kinda seems appropriate.

1999, when I changed jobs and had access to the Internet at work for the first time. Initially as Shropshire Blue, then just Shropshire, then Tractor Buck when I got involved with AFC Telford in 2005.

Ahhh, 1999.. when Facters was Ixy and I used to meet Wilnecote (bluelagos) and Dalliance at away games.

Nah, I'm Phil - Timm lives just down the road from me and I still speak to him and Mick Diver on a occasional basis. I haven't been going regularly for a while, a couple of times a season if I'm lucky. Next up is Wolves but I'll be in the prawn sandwich section for that one.

Started out as ChoprasRightFoot I think, so probably started posting between the years he was here, 2011-2013.

On to Mick_Knows, then Paul_Knows (torrid name with those 3 we had in charge) and now Kieran_Knows.

I always remember at the time I was Mick_Knows that someone else used to post under Micknosehowtodoit. Wonder if they're still on this forum under a different name?

I think I came along in 98', we got the internet at work! Who had it at home then? Was it even available? Dial up, slowed when California woke up!

Yes the Internet existed for home users, isps were subscription based from the early 90s, then Freeserve launched in 98, and you just paid the phone call costs and it created the mass home Internet market.

And your dial up wouldn't have slowed down when California woke up, you were simply hitting the bandwidth limits of the technology at the time

Website first appeared in a very basic form in 1995, Gav got involved the next year and it really took off from there with the Forum and then the news side of things following that.

Don't forget you had the mailing list before that, which was like a pseudo forum

Did we have a mailing list? I remember being on a mailing list, which I think may still exist, but I don't recall running one.

I think that it orginally began as an email mass mailing in maybe 1996? I definitely remember receiving those emails at work, the only place which had internet.

It's bascially been a staple of my football life ever since. It's always good to get an independent perspective, while the matchday chatroom is indispensible for those days when nothing else works.

I remember visiting the board in 1999 when I worked at BT in Martlesham, and was introduced to ITFC by a couple of guys that I met there... probably started posting in 2000 as StockleyParkBlue.... little did I know then how that user name would have stood the test of time.... I've been SaleAway since I moved into my current house in 2009. Can't remember what I was between those two....

The e-mail list wasn't run by TWTD, but effectively was a message board.

I was on that from around 1996 to 2000 until the volume of e-mail traffic became unmanageable.

I started posting on here in around 2005, and have always had the same username.

The original founder of the paper fanzine incarnation of TWTD used to post on here regularly, but left a fair while ago.
I used to sell the paper fanzine outside the ground on match day.

Before TWTD there was the message board run by someone called Mark E Owen. Presumably they included the initial to avoid being mistaken for the diminutive member of Take That.

Around ’97-98? when it first started I think. Was originally Ryor (R from Yorkshire) but then the hamsters decided they wanted a minimum 6-character username

Yeah I was gutted when they did that! I used to be called BluJu.

I was on it in the late 80s when it was a photocopy of a hand-typed newsletter, often with poorly masked Tipex.

When was the "Rivals" era? I remember posting pre-rivals but then the board moved to the Rivals platform for a few years. They were great days for board invasions. Poor Canary Corner had more town fans than Norwich fans on it. But their main board was always WOTB.
