Look, I personally think he is a creep but the trial by media that happens all the time is a bit much.

Go through the proper channels, avoid the massive pile on and do things the right way. I respect him coming out fighting in that regard.

But I do still think he did it all.

It's just your bog standard cancelling of someone who has clearly p155ed off too many people in too many areas and they just want shot of.

I'm sure every mainline presenter on all these big shows has enough to bring them down out there as and when people want to do it, and it is just when the rolling stone gathers enough moss that it happens.

Big egos in roles, when no one dares say no, and their jokes are laughed along with and the behaviours encouraged means that there will be a tipping point and Gregg Wallace has obviously found his and enough people in important roles want shot of him so he'll be gone now.

Similar to when Richard Keys went at Sky, and they will feel like a victim because they've never acted any differently, and there will be plenty of people still in the industry who are worse and will never be called out for it

You're welcome.

Perhaps if you were consistent in your views rather than clearly posting to provoke posters you consider to be "woke" then one wouldn't have to point out all the inconsistencies in your positions.

Morning Blueas, I hope you are well.

I'm genuinely interested, can you explain to me what's wrong with pointing out inconsistencies in posting and clear narratives?

To be honest I didn't want to get involved in this stuff but I find it very annoying when people are just outright disingenuous.

I'm going to attempt to go back to ignoring it but there is a question to be looked at here. Should this place handwave such Trumpian behaviour?

Anyway, I've had my say and thus I'll bid you all good day.

I’m sure everyone will be very grateful that these incidents have been deemed “low end” on the sexual abuse scale from some man on a football forum. Thank you for clearing that up, and your legal opinion.

The state of some of the replies in this post – from a bunch of men. “Saucy banter” – what is this, 1973? I’ve no doubt this was used as a way of dismissing all sorts of behaviour back then.

Very interesting post-Trump’s win how some of these views are coming out of the woodwork from apparently reasonable people.

objectively what has been quoted is at the low end of such things. it doesn't involve touching, it doesn't involve propositioning, it doesn't involve the abuse of power or coercion to make people do things. all the things quoted (except for taking his shirt off in his dressing room) are verbal and no one has disputed that they were intended as jokes, even if inappropriate. the one thing i have seen quoted precisely is that he said to a woman "you're 3 years younger than my wife" - and I'm not convinced that alone is all that bad.

man on football forum incapable of seeing the relative significance of things - pretty much sums up online discussion alas. but thank you of course for your black and white absence of nuance or judgement.

i've said repeatedly that i'm only commenting on what's been reported - if there is more to come out then i know nothing about it. what has been reported is objectively at the low end of such things - it's nowhere near criminal, i'm not convinced that as reported it necessarily meets the threshold for harassment.

Saucy banter! Wow. Not saw the women made to feel so uncomfortable see it as such

The phrase "saucy banter" was said by Illinoisblue, I was merely repeating it in my reply to him, and yet weirdly it's me who you reply to to complain about it, not the originator. I also added "if that's all it is", which you've decided to leave out in your response.

Why not go overboard, i mean you did with me when you suggested that i was in favour of woman being mugged. ( This was soon removed by admin, and rightly so)

So now you're in favour of a sleazebag and a creep who finds it hilarious and I'm guessing sexually a turn on, to talk dirty and suggestive in front of middle aged woman of a certain age.

His ego has clearly got the better of him. Why otherwise would a normal 60 year old man flaunt his half naked body, and sometimes almost naked body other than because in his deluded mind, he is irresistible to woman.

In my opinion he deserves everything he has coming to him. To excuse his behavior by blaming it on a "A handful of middle class- woman of a certain age" Tells me everything i need to know about the scumbag.

"I'm guessing".

Sums you up doesn't it?

though, to be fair, brand was accused of sexual assault, grooming and exposing himself. these things are not exactly the same as being crude and telling inappropriate jokes and lumping them together seems a little bit harsh.

Sexual jokes can be sexual harassment

They can be, of course, depending on the content and context; how they are delivered, the frequency towards another person etc. But they aren't necessarily, by themselves, sexual harassment. Obviously.

I presume you've never told a joke of a sexual nature?

Quite. I’m talking about the options left to celebs when they are no longer in the public eye. He’s too old for Love Island. I’m a Celebrity and Big Brother won’t touch him for a couple of years so being baptised by Brand seems the most logical move for him.

Maybe just easier to admit you don't really understand how much woman can be offended by something you consider to be 'Saucy banter"

quite - i doubt we'll see him on tv again. his video didn't help. effectively saying that lots of women shared his sense of humour isn't going to cut it.

I think they should all be sent to an island, like Phil Schofield did with his castaway episode. Where they can all moan and say how they don't need it any more, and how happy they are to not be in TV as they all claim to be - but then they get given the option of a Hunger Games competition.

They can either head into obscurity, or fight to the death for a chance to be allowed back on Prime Time TV - and they'll all choose the latter because obscurity is worse than death for them now

I am in my mid-60s and have never done so.

It is possible as a male not to engage in what I would regard a puerile, and to women inappropriate, behaviour, whatever one's age.

Wallace has also been accused of what I would assume would be viewed by the police sexual assault.

Slightly surprised so many are seeking to defend or make light of his behaviour.

Blimey, that's astonishing and quite unusual. Never, in your entire life, have you told a joke of a sexual nature. Extraordinary.

Regardless, my point was sexual jokes aren't necessarily sexual harassment. Would you not agree?

We were commenting on what was known at the time. This story in The Sun was posted last night at 10pm, it's the first I, and I assume others, have seen of it.

We've clearly spoken about sexual jokes.

Touching, if true, is an entirely different matter.
