He thought they were better than us and we did nothing other than score 2 poor goals.
Other than a 10 minute spell after wolves equalized I thought we were the better team. He's not going to help himself if he buries his head in the sand and ignores what's going on in front of his eyes.

Dead man walking. He was flailing all over the place, talking about protecting his players one minute then throwing them under the bus the next. The stuff about them being the better team and us only having 2 chances was desperately trying to con people to keep his job.
I'll be amazed if he isn't sacked tomorrow.
Trust the process. Trust Phil.

First half we were the better side. 2nd half they were, they were certainly good for a point and that probably would’ve been fair. Result tends to dictate the narrative though, as it has in recent games. There’s been naff all to choose between the sides in our last 3 or 4 games in all honesty, which is testament to how well we’re doing.

I've watched different highlight videos and they have wolves having 2 chances to towns goal.. what are the highlights missing out from ourselves in that first half?
he's damned if he sticks up for his team, and damned if he doesnt it seems.
stats wise he has a point, they had more possession, more shots at goal, more shots on target, more corners, more passes, more accurate passes, more tackles, less clearances.
just shows stats dont always tell the story of a game.

He's a hack, merry-go-round manager who's lost control of his squad, both in a footballing and disciplinary sense, and will probably be sacked in the next few days/weeks.
I therefore wouldn't pay too much attention to anything he says.

Why 'merry-go-round'?

He certainly is a dead man walking. For over an hour he was doing his despondent rat face that he does:
His demeanour reminds me very much of oily Martin at Southampton. I get their teams are deep in the brown stuff but the contrast with McKenna’s post match interviews is stark. The latter I’m sure tears himself to bits inside just as much, but is so professional by comparison. I suspect he’s that way with the players too.
Martin and O’Neil strike me as rather sulky types. And yes, O’Neil’s face does have a touch of the Roland’s about it.

Oh, just because he's the type: not very good, but will keep getting jobs because he's a yes man who probably comes across well in a boardroom interview. That's just my perception anyway.
He'll probably get a couple of Championship jobs next. He's the Garry Monk of the 2020s.

Jacqui Oatley puts him on the spot.
Wow. Watching interviews with managers like this really hammers home how lucky we are to have the man-management of Kieran McKenna!
Around 5 minutes in he basically says Cunha, Semedo and Lemina are Premier League players but the rest are not showing themselves to be good enough.
Then, after calling out and critising the players for a full five minutes flat, he then says while he is the manager he will protect his players. What?
That sort of criticism needs to be done in private, Gary. That's protecting your players. You are clearly trying to save yourself here. Embarrassing!

The bloke was promoted from within at Bournemouth and kept them up when they were in jeopardy in their first season back in the PL. Was then offered another PL job at Wolves. Has been quite vocal to those upstairs that constantly selling your best players can only last so long before something gives, and that was the point he was really making again yesterday. Maybe not smart to say on MotD that the current players aren't all PL standard, but he's probably right, and Wolves fans would probably agree, - whether they want him in charge next month or not.

Fair enough - you obviously have a higher opinion of him than I do. I would argue that the squad he inherited, though weakened, is far stronger than ours on paper, and all I ever seem to hear from the guy is sulky excuses. He gives off proper Lambert vibes to me (although obviously he isn't that bad!), but each to their own.
To be honest, I hope his career at Wolves lasts as long as possible, so the best of luck to him!
