Dyche gone 16:27 - Jan 9 with 6592 views | LongLegs | Not sure if thats good or bad news for us
This may actually be good news? on 17:04 - Jan 9 with 1964 views | unstableblue | We saw at Portman Road - when the Town players failed to fire - how well organised defensively Everton were, with possibly the worst back line in terms of quality/age we have faced. The Everton squad does have some quality and value, but it’s been stripped pretty bare over the last few seasons by PSR. And whilst Everton have some very poor stats from an attacking perspective (see Adam on TWTV this week), Dyche has kept them above the bottom three at the halfway point of the season. The challenge for the new manager is whether he can increase quality in Jan, instill a better system, whilst remaining robust at the back with resources currently there. Which could be tough. We have McKenna continuity, West Spam and Everton now have uncertainty

Dyche gone on 17:07 - Jan 9 with 1936 views | ElderGrizzly | I think it's good news as they still have significant PSR issues and can't really go out and buy their way out of trouble this season. And they have a squad built for Dyche and his way of playing, so anyone coming in will struggle I assume. Fingers crossed!

Dyche gone on 16:39 - Jan 9 by Daninthecampo | The new owners seem like sensible people sacking your manager a few hours before kickoff! Jose is favourite for the job but he only ever goes to clubs with loads of cash, which they now may have but can't use due to Psr, strange! |
On record as saying he doesn't want to go to a team in a relegation scrap - it'd too hard apparently!

Dyche gone on 17:10 - Jan 9 with 1874 views | DanTheMan | I'm erring on the side of good for this. I think Dyche would have kept them up even if the football would have been painful. Heavily depends on the replacement. Moyes maybe? It's a very different club to the one he left though. [Post edited 9 Jan 19:27]

Dyche gone on 17:33 - Jan 9 with 1723 views | John_Grose | Moyes is favourite apparently, can't see any really top managers wanting to take over an aging squad with no money to spend and a whole heap of pressure to keep them up due to the "new stadium"

Dyche gone on 16:52 - Jan 9 by FrimleyBlue | Not good news. I really do think it's town v wolves for that safe place now. |
Has Mourinho ever had to manage a club in a relegation scrap before? Usually, he has fairly decent players at his disposal and makes them solid... He's not going to make Everton anymore solid than they are. They need to improve going forward, is he the man to do that? | | | | Login to get fewer ads
Dyche gone on 18:06 - Jan 9 with 1565 views | billlm | Bad news, mouriniho will bore the league to the 15 points needed, Us Leicester and wolves for the one remaining safe spot,

Dyche gone on 16:28 - Jan 9 by itfcjoe | Feels like the side just above the zone have realised Ipswich are quite good and going to give it more of a go in January so have hit the panic button |
Correct my brother is a mad Everton supporter, told me the board got spooked as we'd picked up to many points lately,
Dyche gone on 18:20 - Jan 9 with 1502 views | Swansea_Blue | I’m going for good news. I think they’ll struggle get someone as experienced as Dyche at pulling teams away from the relegation zone.

Dyche gone on 18:26 - Jan 9 with 1484 views | PhilTWTD | I'd go with potentially good. With Dyche in charge they'd probably eke out enough points to stay up in a McCarthy type of way. Obviously, whoever comes in could turn them around, but perhaps more likely to try to instil a different style of play and cause a bit of a mess. Hopefully anyway.

Me too. I’m thinking along the same lines as Phil, but Bloot’s comment about Moyes could be a worry. He’d hit the ground running and carry on Dyche’s approach. I don’t think the fans are looking for that, but they’ve got to survive before they can worry about quality of football.

Is that a serious suggestion? I assumed that was a joke when I saw it posted somewhere. Not really sure of the point of that from the new owners' perspective, thought the dour approach was part of why they wanted rid of Dyche. Probably the most sensible replacement, as you suggest.
Dyche gone on 18:37 - Jan 9 with 1394 views | Ryorry | Seems bonkers to me - Dyche is a street fighter & able to instil that in his teams, Everton players always seemed to fight for him, not sure anyone else could do better.

Dyche gone on 18:39 - Jan 9 with 1384 views | MK1 | Good news I think. Think Dyche would have kept them up, whereas the new fella needs time to sort the shambles out. Unless they can sign 2 new CB, 2 new CF before the end of January, then they are going to struggle. Whoever the new guy is, I think they can take them down.

....with all the bookies. 1/7 with one of them! I think he'd be the worst appointment from our point of view, ideally we'd want them to be appointing one of those young European nerdy stat type managers at this stage. ...or an American.

Dyche gone on 18:47 - Jan 9 with 1338 views | Dubtractor | I can't really decide if its good or bad. We all know that Dyche has a reputation for grubbing out results, but Everton have been dire this season. They have scored 5 fewer than us, on have scored nil in 8 of their last 10 games. I know their squad isn't amazing, but its surely better than that? Best hope is that they appoint someone wanting to play a more expansive game, who fails dismally as they don't have the players to do it. Russell Martin is out of work......

Yes, I was thinking that would be the sort of route they would take. Agree, Moyes is probably the worst from our perspective.
