Burgess over Greaves for me 22:49 - Jan 16 with 3418 views | 3_5_2 | Burgess makes less mistakes, actually a better passer on my view I think Burgess and Lief have a better understanding too

Burgess over Greaves for me on 22:51 - Jan 16 with 3220 views | Swailsey | Agreed. Burgess brings the midfield into the game more too. Very strange decision to drop him which clearly wasn’t based on form.

I think Burgess is relishing coming from Accrington to the PL Greaves seems weighed down by the price tag of his transfer.

spot on, it was a poor mistake but it was compounded by Walton's I can't get my head around people not understanding that a ball going under him is a mistake Yes it may have taken a deflection but the ball has gone under a gap he wasn't covering

Burgess over Greaves for me on 23:26 - Jan 16 with 3027 views | FrimleyBlue | Greaves somehow went from looking England likely to why is he ahead of Burgess. Is he still carrying an injury? Not sure of his position in a 3? Are we playing football a way that doesn't suit him? He's defo not looked the same player

Burgess over Greaves for me on 23:26 - Jan 16 with 3042 views | Arthur_Hayes | We obviously see Greaves as our future LCB considering his age and the fee paid, and I think he’ll come good. However, he goes to ground (in terms of sliding tackles etc) too often. The old motto for defenders was, “good defenders stay on their feet”. Hopefully this is something he’ll learn soon.
Burgess over Greaves for me on 23:28 - Jan 16 with 3024 views | Superblue95 | Greaves looked fantastic in his first handful of games bar the bizarre clearance against Villa. Then had a shocker against West Ham and got injured straight after. Hasn’t looked the same player since coming back, not sure if injury is still niggling him. Agree that Burgess has been the better player this year, but Greaves has a much higher ceiling so is who we’ll probably stick with.

Burgess over Greaves for me on 01:13 - Jan 17 with 2861 views | Vaughan8 | Definitely. Been saying this for a while. Greaves clearly has a "higher ceiling" as people say, but currently right now, Burgess is no worse, and he makes less mistakes. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I often wonder if you are watching the same games as everyone else. Greaves hasn't been outstanding ALL season, O'Shea has been the standout performer in defence. Burgess has been solid when called upon and was unlucky to lose his place, moreso considering that Greaves in the short term is offering less.

You mean for the goal? Or when he let the ball bounce 3 times before dealing with it? By no means a bad player overnight, but also far from a comfortable performance

What about the hospital pass to Walton? He left that short imho. He puts better weight on the pass that collision doesn’t happen..or if it does it’s a more blatant red

Walton didn't do himself any favors with the two goals imo, If that's Muric this board would be on meltdown,

This was spoken about at the game, if the ball is that close to the keeper would it not be better to just save with your feet? As opposed to getting a 6’6” frame down to the floor.

I dont mean the one mistake, he has been accountable for too many this season Burgess is steadier and works better with Davies as they have played together more

Burgess over Greaves for me on 18:17 - Jan 17 with 1765 views | MK1 | Burgess was unlucky to be dropped after coming back in and doing very well. Greaves is ok, but always want Burgess on the team sheet when available.

The game can look different from distinct parts of the ground. Notably the two end stands where you get a close up view of the defence in one half only.

It's a Muric kind of season Burgess has always surprised me, I think he reads the game really well and is organised. His lack of pace is probably the thing that worries McKenna but besides that, he's fairly decent

Burgess over Greaves for me on 12:13 - Jan 18 with 1102 views | ghostofescobar | Depends on the opposition. Burgess is slower than greaves, no doubt. Burgess is better in the air. Not sure burgess is better with the ball. It’s been noticeable on at least a couple of games how opposition teams have man marked us when our keeper has the ball, but left burgess free as they want him to have the ball as they feel his distribution is poor, which personally I think it can be at times, but I do think he’s improving.

Is Burgess actually better in the air, I'm fairly sure Greaves was right up there in the aerial duels won before his injury?

Burgess over Greaves for me on 13:43 - Jan 18 with 997 views | Dennyx4 | Think Greaves is given the nod as he is quicker, however if we play a low block, this becomes less of an issue.
